THE STAFFING INDUSTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP

With "Budget Season" coming to an end, those with legislative agendas are once again moving their legislative priorities forward.

Of immediate importance are three bills moving through the legislature.  NJSA supports two bills and we need you to reach out to your Assembly representatives to encourage them to vote for these two pieces of legislation:
  • S-3176/ A-4898 - This bill moves the period used to calculate the next year's Employee TDI rate so that your firm will learn the new rate in early September rather than mid-November.  This would allow staffing firms to accurately plan and manage better.  The bill has passed the Senate and we now want the Assembly to approve it.   Click here and go to the Key Issue entitled S 3176/A4898 and click the "Write Your Legislators" button and send an email from each of your NJ branch locations.  If you want more information on this bill and NJSA's Position Paper, click on the "Get More Information" button.
  • A-4878 - This bill is going through the Assembly and will be heard by the Assembly Appropriations Committee this week.  The sponsor of the bill welcomed NJSA's comments, concerns and suggestions to improve a well-intended bill that would have created significant administrative burdens on the staffing industry without changes.  She accepted our suggestions and the bill as amended is supported by NJSA. Click here and go to the Key Issue entitled A-4278 and click the "Write Your Legislators" button and send an email from each of your NJ branch locations.  If you want more information on this bill and NJSA's Position Paper in support of the amended bill, click on the "Get More Information" button.
There is one bill that has serious issues for the staffing and recruiting industry: A-3480 ACS/S-2536.  This bill serious limits employers from obtaining previous salary, compensation and benefits history from applicants.  This bill has already passed the Assembly and is now being considered by the Senate.  We need everyone to send an email to their Senator to let them now that there are issues that need to be addressed prior to final approval.  Click here to see a copy of NJSA's Position Paper and click here for a copy of the Staffing Industry Impact Analysis of the bill if it passed in its current form.   Click here and go to the Key Issue entitled A-3480 ACS and click the "Write Your Legislators" button and send an email from each of your NJ branch locations.

We need everyone in the industry to communicate using NJSA's Legislative Outreach Platform with their Senators and Assembly representatives on these three issues.  It is critical the industry is viewed as constructive - balanced in both supporting positive legislation and critical with suggestions of negative legislation.  You can do your part by spending just a few minutes now sending a few emails.  Please remember to send separate emails from every branch location in NJ so you'll have maximum impact.

If you have questions regarding use of NJSA's Legislative Outreach Platform, contact NJSA at 877-797-6572.
