Under New Jersey's Earned Sick Leave Law, most employees have a right to accrue up to 40 hours of earned sick leave per year. Go to nj.gov/laborto learn which employees are covered by the law. New employees must receive this written notice from their employer when they begin employment, and existing employees must receive it by November 29, 2018. Employers must also post a notice in a conspicuous and accessible place at all work sites, and provide copies to employees upon request. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, facing a growing scandal surrounding his administration's decision to hire a former campaign aide for a state job despite an allegation of sexual assault, said Monday he had ordered an "independent" investigation into how is staff handled the matter and was prepared to change state law to ensure nothing like it happens again.
Murphy announced Tuesday New Jersey is opening another Choose New Jersey economic development office.
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin outspent Democratic incumbent Bob Menendez by a nearly 5-1 margin between July and September, thanks largely to Hugin's personal fortune, which has funded the bulk of his campaign.
