EEHOA NOTES
EEHOA Board Meeting Today!
Our EEHOA Board is holding their monthly meeting today, Monday, March 16, at the Ramada at 1 pm.   Please see the agenda below.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn what's going on in Esperanza Estates.  Everyone is welcome, and folks who are new to EE are especially encouraged to attend.   If you have any questions, please call the President, Dave Sielken, 908-346-1760.
Food Pantry Bin
We are approaching the time when many of our friends will be returning to their summer homes for a few months.  If you have non-perishable food that you want to clean out before you leave, we have a Food Pantry Bin at the Ramada where you can drop those off.  Those items are delivered to the Green Valley Food Bank.
EE Has Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
We have two Automated External Defibrillators (AED). One is located in the Pool Area outside the Men's Bathroom and the other is at the Pickleball Courts in the shaded area by the court entrance. An AED is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It is a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.   If a person is found to be collapsed and unresponsive, it is recommended that Compression-only CPR is begun immediately and the AED is employed to analyze heart rhythm and, if necessary, deliver a shock.

The use of the AED is clearly set out on an Instruction Card and reinforced with Voice Commands, but we would encourage our residents to familiarize themselves with Compression-only CPR and the use of an AED by attending a training course. GVR schedules free courses at Desert Hills Center, and we understand that the courses are open to persons who are not GVR members.

Doug Syme (EE Board Member) has taken over a monthly check of the AED units (previously among Craig Surprise's many gifts to EEHOA). Doug would like to compile a list of EEHOA members who have taken a CPR/AED course. Please let him know at dougsyme@verizon.net.
 EE ACTIVITIES
CANCELED....St. Patrick's Day Baked Potato Bar
In keeping with current guidelines to avoid large gatherings in order to contain the Coronavirus, the Hospitality Committee has decided to  cancel our St. Patrick's Day Potato Bar on Tuesday, March 17th.   This was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the right one for our EE neighborhood.  Thank you for your understanding.
Gardeners Work Party
The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:00 am at Common Area (Next to 785 W. Circulo Napa/Corner of Napa and Portillo) to do some clean up at that space.  We will also do some clean up at the Portillo Bridge Park.  Please bring a rake, shovel, clippers, gloves and a bucket, if you have them.  Any ideas for future projects, share them with Rod Harp at re_gvaz@outlook.com or text him at 520.329.9103.  New members are always welcome.  The meeting will be postponed if it's raining.
Wednesday Coffee and Donuts
Join your friends and neighbors for complimentary coffee and donuts at the Ramada this Wednesday, March 18, at 8:30 am. Many thanks to the  Cookes and Copelands for sponsoring this event.  Early birds get the best choice of pastry!
Fiber Arts Doing Mosaic
This week,  Thursday, 1 pm, at the Ramada,  we will finish grouting our flower pots.  Debbie Reis will also be available to help anyone that would like to make a mosaic ball for their yard.  For that, you need to bring a styrofoam ball (available at Walmart). Other mosaic supplies will be available.   Please call Bernie Olson, 920-254-9277, with questions.
EE CARING CONNECTIONS
Caring Connections is an opportunity to share news about an EE neighbor who may be experiencing a serious health issue or other difficult life event, so neighbors can connect and offer a hand or send a message of cheer.  I f   you know of a situation or would like to inform neighbors about your own situation, please contact Judy Hayes at 720-201-9260, judy.hayes@comcast.net, with the information and any special requests or needs.   MMM will follow up to obtain approval to mention it in the newsletter.
  • Sam Simonson was admitted to Santa Cruz Valley Hospital on Saturday, March 14, for testing and observation due to high heart rates and atrial fibrillation.  He is being monitored in the ICU, and will possibly be having a cardioversion on Monday.  Please keep Sam in your prayers.  If you want to drop him a note, his address is 1101 W Circulo Del Norte.
