Monday Morning Memo

March 30, 2020                Esperanza Estates                    Green Valley, AZ

"According to the Mayo Clinic, laughter stimulates the body's organs by increasing oxygen intake to the heart, lungs and muscles, and triggers the release of endorphins. It also helps people handle stress by easing tension, relaxing the muscles and lowering blood pressure.   But considering the pandemic that our world is currently facing, the most important thing is that laughter increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving our resistance to disease. So, as weird as it sounds, jokes really can help you to fight the coronavirus."

Please send us your jokes....Judy Hayes at
Let's keep Esperanza Estates laughing!!
"The Border Patrol just seized 2 tons of toilet paper hidden in cocaine..."

Most of us in EE remember the classic hilarious Carol Burnett Show.  Here's a great skit on "Toilet Tissue".... click here
"To the people who bought 20 bottles of soap leaving none of the shelves for others, you do realize that to stop getting Coronavirus, you need other people washing their hands too."
"I went to the bathroom at a restaurant.  I washed my hands, opened the door with my elbow, raised the toilet seat with my foot, switched on the water faucet with a tissue, then opened the bathroom door to leave with my elbow.  Then when I returned to my table I realized....I forgot to pull up my pants!!

Ramada WiFi
The duty to maintain electronics at the Ramada has passed from Craig Surprise to Kevin Welsh.  There have been numerous issues with the WiFi, so the WiFi service and phone at the Ramada/Pool has been replaced.  The new unit uses the same name as the old one with no password.  The number for the pool phone is 520-395-7993.  Anyone experiencing problems should contact Kevin at
Creatures and Critters...Oh No!!!
Yep, the rattlesnakes have awakened from winter hibernation and have been spotted in Esperanza Estates.  The bees are showing up too.  If you have a problem with unwanted critters, call Desert Pest Removal at the GV Fire Department, 520-629-9200.  They will be out in a jiffy to help!  Good idea to check those areas around the exterior of your home where bugs love to nest.  May  need some extra caulking this time of year.
Pickleball Time Change
Pickleball for morning play is changed to 8:00-10:00 am, 7 days a week.
Gardeners Work Party
The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, March 31, at 9:00 am at Ramada/Pool Area for some clean up at the park.  After the clean up, we will go to a couple of other locations to thin out plants for transplanting.  Please bring a rake, shovel, clippers, gloves and a bucket, if you have them.  Any ideas for future projects, share them with Rod Harp at or text him at 520.329.9103.  New members are always welcome.  PLEASE BE VERY AWARE OF KEEPING SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCE AND USING YOUR OWN TOOLS SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN OUR GARDEN AREAS TOGETHER.  WE ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR HELP, BUT EVEN MORE DURING THIS UNSETTLED TIME.   Meeting will be postponed if raining.
Pickleball Meeting to Discuss Rules for Guest Use
On April 8th at 11 am there will be a meeting at the Pickleball court to discuss rules and guest use charges for implementation during the new playing season. The consensus of the meeting will be presented to the EE Board for possible enactment at the next Board meeting. All interested residents should attend and make your opinions known.   Social distancing will be observed at the meeting.  As with all meetings during the COVID-19 crisis, this meeting will be subject to cancellation up until the last minute should changing circumstances warrant.
"The act of social distancing is an act of love"

Helping Our Esperanza Estates Neighbors
In Esperanza Estates, we are attempting to connect neighbors who have a need for assistance during the COVID-19 crisis with EE folks who are willing to offer help.

We have heard from a number of EE neighbors offering help....but as yet, have not received any requests for help.  Our h elpers are offering to do shopping, bring food, run errands, and share supplies...even toilet paper!  Also, if you need help walking your dog...we can help!

If you are in need of assistance,
or know of someone who has need for assistance
If you are able to offer assistance during the crisis

Please contact Judy Hayes at 720-201-9260 or

If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

Please share this information with your EE neighbors.  We know there are a number of residents that don't receive the MMM online.  We have placed a box in the Ramada with paper copies of the weekly MMM.  If you can, please take a copy to neighbors.   As we hear from EE neighbors needing assistance, we will contact folks who have offered to help.   As always, individual privacy is respected.
Thanks to the Gardeners
From Cyndie Alto... "Thank you to the Gardeners who planted over 18 plants on Esperanza Blvd to add more plants to that area!  Our HOA is built on volunteers.  We really appreciate you!"

One of our neighbors told us about Silver Sneakers online workout videos at   It's fun and free, you just have to sign in.
Prayer Channels
Another neighbor is finding the daily prayer services helpful on channels 112 and 113 on the EWTN network.
Scavenger Hunt
An especially creative neighbor in EE who has had grandchildren visiting created a golf cart scavenger hunt.  Each team takes a golf cart and drives around the neighborhood taking pictures of the hunt items.  First team to find the items wins.  How fun is that!  Sounds like something the adults could have fun with too and observe social distancing, staying 6 ft apart!  Here's the scavenger hunt list, posted on the EE website under Recent Activities.
Trico Electric Coop Annual Meeting Canceled
Trico's Annual Meeting scheduled for April 4, 2020 will no longer be held at Casino del Sol and, instead of an in-person meeting, Trico will conduct the Annual Meeting by telephone conference on May 5, 2020 at 10 a.m.  This change is consistent with advice from health officials that in-person meetings should be limited. For more information about the telephone conference and about voting for Board of Director's open seats go to the Trico website.

We all know the COVID-19 virus can be everywhere, and who knows what might be on that package of toilet paper before you bought it.  We should wipe everything down before we open it.  Heres a good video with more  information.
Hand Washing
We know that thoroughly washing your hands is at the top of the list of things to do to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Here's a good video on
