EE Gardeners Get A New Used Utility Cart
and Put It Right To Work
Here's the story on EE's new used utility cart....the old mule was on its last fact, it had been limping for quite a while and was not up to the heavy jobs our Gardeners had for it.  After a little advertising, along came a buyer of old mules and carted it off to a new home (glue factory?).  Then, our enterprising "purchasing agent," Kevin Welsh, spotted an ad for a 2015 Club Car 500 Carry All Utility Cart, and just like magic, the EE Gardeners have a spiffy new used utility cart.  Our volunteer Gardeners do a lot of work in Esperanza Estates.....pruning, planting, and beautifying our neighborhood.  Gardeners, Rod Harp and Wayne Bower, put the new cart right to work in the common area at Holgado and Regalo.  The work our Gardeners Group does saves EE a lot in landscaping costs, and they deserve a reliable cart.  Thanks Gardeners!  Now we need a name for the cart!
From Mary Harp
The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday,  March 2, from 9:00 until approximately 10:30 am at Shade Tree Park, next to the pickleball courts.  Bring your gloves and a rake to help clean up.  Please practice COVID protocol. Call Rod Harp at 520.329.9103 if you have any questions.

Caring Connections is a way to share information about EE neighbors who may be experiencing a health crisis or could use some neighborly assistance.  With the isolation of Covid, we often don't know what's happening right next door.  Our neighbors want to know, so they can help one another.  If you know of a situation, please call Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email
Second Round of Vaccines
From Debbie Kenyon, Green Valley Council President, 2/26/21
Dear Community Members,

"In early February, 3000 Green Valley area residents received their first COVID 19 vaccine doses at either the Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital or at the Community Performing Arts Center (CPAC) and have been eagerly waiting to see when their second dose would be scheduled. These doses are finally arriving and will be delivered March 8th-11th," according to Debbie Kenyon with the Green Valley Council (GVC).
Based on the limited availability of the vaccine, it was unknown when second round doses would be available, which kept health care workers from scheduling the second round of doses for these individuals. Working with Pima County Health Department, local leaders have been assured that these doses will be available and will start scheduling appointments immediately.

Appointments will be made in two ways, according to Chief Chuck Wunder with the Green Valley Fire District. "For those who registered in the State system for their first dose and have an email address on file, you will receive an email notification prompting you to log in to the system to confirm your appointment. For those who were registered at a vaccination site, or for those who do not have an email address on file, you will be contacted by a representative from the GVC to receive the date and time of your scheduled second-round appointment.  Please be patient with this process. I anticipate it will take until Wednesday March 3rd to complete all notifications," said Wunder. If you have not been emailed or contacted by phone by Wednesday March 3rd please call the Green Valley Council, at 520-848-4903. This line will not be monitored until Wednesday, March 3rd at 8:00 a.m.

One big change that should be noted is that all these second-round vaccinations will be done at Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital. None will occur at CPAC. It is also important to note that these doses are restricted to the same individuals who received them in early February, and that there will be no walk-in traffic or opportunities for a first dose vaccines. "We are hopeful that more doses will be coming in the near future, but for now it is important to complete these second doses," said Wunder.
