Fun & Relaxing Pen & Pencil Doodling Activity
One of our neighbors, Lila Stoffel, is planning to moderate a special (and free) session of a relaxing (and fun) Pen & Pencil Doodling Activity for EE residents on Wednesday, September 9, 3-4 pm. This activity puts focus on your personal thoughts and life experiences. No contests, no analysis, no judgment....just contemplation, relaxation and fun. You'll need to bring a pen or pencil and any kind of paper, plus your memories of people, places and things you've experienced. This activity is based on Lila's 15 yrs. of experience in a project designed to address issues of boredom, isolation and loneliness; issues we've all experienced during this time of the COVID virus. No fee, no prior experience needed. With respect to social distancing, the group size will be limited to 15; one person per table in the EE Ramada. Please wear a mask.  Call Lila at 218-731-7694 or 520-648-0792 if you'd like to attend the first "Come and Try It" session.  Recently, Lila has been on vacation and out of touch, so if you haven't been able to reach her, please try again later this week.
Pima County Air Quality
Our air quality has not been good recently, largely due to smoke from forest fires in Arizona and neighboring states. The Pima County Department of Environmental (PDEQ) Quality monitors air pollution at 14 locations in eastern Pima County. Up-to-the-hour air pollution levels are available on the PDEQ website air monitoring section. You can get more information and sign up to receive Air Quality Advisories and other PDEQ information.
Annie App For Veterans
Annie is a VA service that sends automated text messages to Veterans to check in on them regularly.  Craig Surprise shared this information about Annie....
"Annie" is a computer program that will send a text message every day to vets for whom she has a cell phone number or an email address. She routinely asks for some feedback about how we're feeling. So far, the only thing her messages to me have asked is "How are you feeling today?" In every case I've replied "Well Yes" (which is what she wants to see) and she leaves me alone until the next day. Not providing any response would lead to someone visiting the home of the person to ring the bell and wait for someone to come to the door. One of Annie's latest suggestions is...."Feeling claustrophobic wearing your mask?  Annie suggests sucking on a peppermint."  Click here for an article that explains what Annie is and how to use it.
Caring Connections is a section of the MMM where we share information about EE neighbors who may be ill, experiencing a difficult time, or need a little pick me up, so our neighbors can reach out to provide assistance.  We always get permission from the folks involved before sharing information in the MMM.  EE neighbors have appreciated getting the information. If you know of a situation, please call Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email

The correct spelling is "school" not "school."  Some people put the second "o" before the first "o," which is very wrong.

I walked by a farm and read a sign that said, "Duck, eggs."  I thought, "That's an unnecessary comma."  And then it hit me...

What do you get when a chicken lays eggs on top of a hill?
Egg Rolls.

Here's one from our neighbor, Larry Ogren.  Thanks Larry!
Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?
DONALD TRUMP: I've been told by my many sources, good sources - they're very good sources - that the chicken crossed the road. All the Fake News wants to do is write nasty things about the road, but it's a really good road. It's a beautiful road. Everyone knows how beautiful it is.
JOE BIDEN: Why did the chicken do the...thing in know the rest.
SARAH PALIN: The chicken crossed the road because, gosh-darn it, he's a maverick!
BARACK OBAMA: Let me be perfectly clear, if the chickens like their eggs they can keep their eggs. No chicken will be required to cross the road to surrender her eggs. Period.
AOC: Chickens should not be forced to lay eggs! This is because of corporate greed! Eggs should be able to lay themselves.
HILLARY CLINTON: What difference at this point does it make why the chicken crossed the road.
GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or against us. There is no middle ground here.
DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun?
BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken.
AL GORE: I invented the chicken.
JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.
AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white?
DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he is acting by not taking on his current problems before adding any new problems.
ANDERSON COOPER: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.
NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's guilty! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.
PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.
DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.
ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain, alone.
GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.
ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.
ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?
COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?
Please share your jokes....Judy Hayes at
