EE Neighborhood Directories
Do you need an EE directory?  Karen White has the 2020 directories, and the price is $5. Just call Karen at 520-648-3993, and she will arrange to have one delivered to you. If you are a new resident, you will receive a directory free with your neighborhood watch packet, which Karen will also have delivered to you. The 2021 directories will be available at the EEHOA Annual Meeting in January.
EE Book Club
The first EE Book Club meeting next meeting will be Thursday, October 15, at 10:00, in the Ramada.  Everyone is asked to wear masks and sit with a sensible amount of distance between persons.  There are plenty of tables to use. The book this month is Every Note Played by Lisa Genova.  Linda Sielken will lead the discussion. Please come prepared with your suggestions of books for the group. Please call Linda with questions, 908-240-1887.
Reminder About Showering Before Using the Pool/Spa
Just a reminder, please don't forget to shower at the pool before getting in either the pool or the spa.  Undoubtedly, you've seen the signs, and you know everyone is required to shower before using the pool and spa.  To clarify, at our pool, "I showered at home" doesn't excuse you from showing at the pool.  We have had some complaints recently, thus this reminder.  Not complying with the showering requirement could result in being asked to leave, and none of us want that.  With the ongoing pandemic it's particularly important now.  Failure to enforce this basic hygiene requirement could also result in government closure of our pool. We for sure don't want that!
CARING CONNECTIONS
Bruce Liljegren
It is with great sadness that we announce that Bruce Liljegren, former Esperanza Estates resident, passed away last Tuesday, October 29.  Bruce and his wife Carolyn lived in EE for a number of years and are currently living in Las Campanas.  Bruce was an active EE resident, serving on the EEHOA Board and contributing to many other activities in EE.  Our sincere condolences to Carolyn and all of Bruce's family and friends.
GOOD TO KNOW
Credit or Debit Card Switching
Will the scams never end?  No, of course, is the disappointing answer.  Here's one involving switching credit and debit cards.  After a purchase, the scammer returns a stolen or canceled card to the purchaser and keeps the purchaser's card.  The message is to always check the name on your card when it is returned to be sure it's yours.  Here's the article from the Green Valley Sheriff's Auxilliary Scam Squad.
Driver's License Renewal
You probably already know about this, but Governor Ducey extended expiration dates on Drivers Licenses that expire between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 by one year from their original expiration date. Any driver may see their updated driver license expiration date at AZMVDNow.gov. Drivers have the option to order a duplicate license with the updated expiration date.
History of Early Green Valley
Green Valley Radio, KGVY, is airing "How Unique Is My Valley," by Thao Tiedt, President of the Green Valley Council, in a series of three Friday ½ hour presentations on the "Cracker Barrel" program. It began last Friday, Oct. 2 and will continue for the next two weeks, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16, at 11:30. Just tune into KGVY 1080 AM or 101.5 FM. Thao's presentation addresses the history of early Green Valley as learned through various resources including reading all issues of the GV News from 1964-1980.  If you missed the first program, you can access it on the Green Valley Radio website.

I went to the store on my bike and bought a bottle of whiskey.  On my way home, I thought, "If I fall off my bike I might smash the bottle."  So, I decided to drink it all.  It was a good decision.  I fell off my bike 5 times before I got home.
