Gardeners

From Mary Harp

Weather permitting, the Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, February 7 at 9:30 a.m. at Flag Park at the corner of Esperanza and Holgado.  Bring tools for cleanup, pruning and weeding at the park. New gardeners are always welcome.

Crafty Crafters

From Bernie Olson

Several people that made suncatchers last week want to make them again. This week, the craft group will be making suncatchers on Thursday, February 9th. We will meet at Bernie’s house. 820 W Circulo Napa at 1 pm.

Please bring a variety of beads large and small, a heavier one for the bottom, an empty key ring, 1 inch square and round mirrors (your choice), clothespins and E6000 glue if you have it. I have plenty of fish line to share with you.

JoAnn’s has beads, and they also have the mirrors. The mirrors get glued together so bring however many you want to use. I used 18. The clothespins can be obtained at the dollar store. They will hold the mirrors together while they dry. It will take a day for them to dry well, so that is why we are doing them at my house.

They can lay out on the tables to dry, and you can pick them up the next day. Call me if you have any questions, Bernie 920-254-9277.

Anybody interested in taking over the craft group for the rest of the season? I won’t be able to do it after my surgery. I would be available by phone to help. Please send me an email at [email protected].

Book Club

The next Book Club meeting will be Thursday, February 9, at 10 am at the Ramada. If the weather is forecasted to be too chilly, we'll send out info about an alternate location. Hugh Rhine will lead the discussion on Stoicism for Inner Peace.

Sidewalk Curb Ending

From Cyndie Alto, Common Area Maintenance

This is the answer from Pima County about the sidewalk ending at Norte and Excelso. "After review, it was determined this is an ADOT standard and it is a directional access ramp due to the sidewalk ending. The “stop” or curb is to deter people from walking that way."  Use the other side of the street.

Dessert Buffet and Silent Auction

February 14th, Valentines' Day

From Jody Hauge

Excitement Is Growing in the Neighborhood! Valentine’s Day will be extra special this year for residents and guests of Esperanza Estates. The Enhancement Committee has been busy planning what they will bake and gathering fantastic donations for our Valentine Dessert Buffet and Silent Auction. The event will be held at the Ramada on Tuesday, February 14, from 1:00 – 3:00. The cost of the buffet is $5 which will allow each individual 3 scrumptious desserts, of their choice, from the buffet.

The Silent Auction will begin at 1 and we will start closing the bids starting

at 2:30. At this time we have 27 amazing donations to bid on. Just to give

you a taste of what is to be offered here is a list of some of the items:

  • A handmade diamond willow walking stick
  • Handmade peyote stitch bracelet
  • Home crafted Mexican ladder
  • Watercolor Silk Scarf
  • How about bidding on a Facial or massage for that special person.
  • Handmade stone necklace and earring set
  • Cutest ever birdhouses
  • Gift certificates
  • Fitness class
  • Wool rug

This is a taste of things to come. We will have more items to entice you

with next week. The EE Gardeners will be selling potted garden plants as part of our fundraising event. Hope you can come and support your community and have a good time. We are all privileged to live in this wonderful community of EsperanzaEstates.
