Judy Hays

Editor of the Monday Morning Memo

Judy Hayes and I moved to EE full-time in January of 2019. Among our first needs was to become active in this community. Judy took on the task of editing the MMM, a task that she enjoyed immensely. Sadly, this task must transition to others as she passed away on Nov. 3. which was just about two weeks short of her 78th Birthday and our 36th wedding anniversary. Memorial plans are still to be determined.

We encourage you to please bring a non-perishable item for the Food Bank.

The books for November and December.

November.....Give Unto Others, by Donna Leon

A Commissario Guido Brunetti Mystery. Brunetti is forced to confront the price of loyalty, to his past and in his work, as a seemingly innocent request leads him into troubling waters.

December.....First Witch of Boston, by Andrea Catalano

A gripping and intimate novel based on the true story of Margaret Jones, the first woman to be found guilty of witchcraft in seventeenth-century Massachusetts.

We decided to adopt an informal discussion format, which we have found works well with our group.

Note: This is a newer book, and the Green Valley Library does not have it yet. It is available through Amazon.

The Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month. Our next meeting is Thursday, November 13, 11 am, at the Ramada. Everyone is welcome!

Esperanza Estates Pickleball Team played in the National ATPL team tournament this week! The team went 3-0 in Round Robin play on Wednesday and Thursday, defeating two teams from Florida and one from Arizona, which qualified EE for the Gold/Silver medal match. It was not decided until the 12th game of this match when EE was finally edged out and lost 25-23, and earned the Silver Medal. During the two-day tournament, the team played 48 games and represented Esperanza Estates and this pickleball community so well. Thank you to everyone who made this season possible and for being the best HOA in Green Valley.

Halloween Party

Gardeners

We will be gone in November and December, returning in January.

If you have the inclination, you can grab a bucket and pull some weeds while we are away.

We are Happy to welcome Kathy Phillippi to the Gardeners.

If you have any questions, please call me at 952.270.0384

Thirsty Thursday

We will have Thirsty Thursday this week, November 13 th, at 4 pm, at the Ramada. We'll keep the same no-host plan, which means BYOB and snacks, and we all help with the cleanup.

Just a note about cleanup....since we don't have a host, we all need to pitch in and put the Ramada back in order when we leave. That means moving the chairs and tables back, picking up the pillows, cleaning the kitchen area, throwing away our trash, etc. Please pitch in as much as you can before you leave.

Hope to see you there!

Almost Time to Decorate Your Lamp Posts For the Holidays...

You can have help from your EE Elves!!

From Gloria Creagh

A long standing tradition in our Esperanza Estates HOA is having our street lamp posts festively decorated from Thanksgiving to New Years.

For new owners, you will need the electrical plug-in, which goes in the light bulb socket of the lamp post. This allows you to plug in your string of lights that turn on at dusk. You then can creatively decorate your light post.

If you are unable to take on this decorating task, we have volunteer Enhancement Elves to assist you. They will decorate your post for just $15.00 if you supply the decorations. If we supply the decorations, we suggest a $25.00 donation. Everything belongs to you when we take the decorations down.

ELVES: John and Gloria Creagh

WHEN: We begin right after Thanksgiving. The deadline for requesting this service is December 1st.

To request the Enhancement Elves’ help or if you have any questions, please call Gloria Creagh at (920) 323-1646.

Bocce Ball Meeting

source: Jim Gardner

As 70 people are interested in playing Bocci Ball, I would like to invite all who are interested to meet at the Ramada on Friday, November 14, at 10:30, so we can see if we can get organized and move the project forward. We will need a project manager(s) and to get organized as a group. Some work has been done, and if people want to get this over the finish line, we will need some help. I am not available to project manage this, but I will help where I can.

If you are unable to make this time but are interested, please email me at jg27057@me.com

Thanks

Jim Gardner
