The 45th EEHOA Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, January 16 at the Community Performance & Art Center (CPAC), 1250 W Continental Rd., Green Valley. Check in starts at 1:30 pm, and quorum determination and meeting start at 2 pm. Please be prepared to provide your EE Lot # when you check in. At the Annual Meeting the 2023 Esperanza Estates HOA Telephone Directories will be on sale for $5.00 each. If you are unable to go to the Annual meeting, other sales times/locations will be set up at a later date. Please call Cheri Day with questions, 303-594-3314.

Titan Trash Containers

Titan Trash has advised us their shipment of containers is coming in, and our containers will be delivered this week. Just a reminder, trash and recycling pick up is Wednesdays.

Gardeners

Weather permitting, The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, January 17th at 8:30 a.m. at the Salad Bar Park behind 1113 del Sur on the EE Trail.  Bring tools for clean up, pruning and weeding at the Park. New gardeners are always welcome.

Pickleball Education Program

Our winter Pickleball Education Program is underway. In Esperanza Estates there are three options for any resident to choose from during the months of January, February, and March. All classes are free and paddles are available for use.

Pickleball 101: Introduction to Pickleball - Beginners ONLY! This course will focus on safety, equipment, and movement. All players will learn the basic shots, rules of the game, and meet other beginner players to socially play with outside of class.

Dates for Class: Jan 2, 16, 30, Feb 6, 20, March 6, 20. Class Time: 11:00-12:30

Pickleball 102: Intermediate Drills and Skills. All players must be able to dink, drop, serve, and return the ball consistently. Not perfectly but efficiently. The focus of this course will be on the fundamentals of the soft game, serve and return, defending in the transition zone, footwork, stealing, volleying, blocking, and the J hook for the lob.

Dates for Class: Jan 4, 18, Feb 1, 15, March 1, 15, 29. Class Time: 11:00-12:30

Pickleball 103: Advanced Techniques. All players must have a rank of 3.5 or higher higher. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to text or call me. This course will highlight footwork, ball placement, shot selection, partner considerations, game strategy, and physical training through drills. 

Dates for Class: Jan 23, 25,  Feb 1, 13, 27, March 1, 13, Class Time: 11:00-12:30

Every class will meet seven times and skill development will build on weekly instruction. Attending class is important to skill acquisition. 

Instructors will be Esperanza residents and myself, Sharon Welsh Falor.

Thirsty Thursday

It's time for Happy Hour!! Thirsty Thursday is this Thursday, 4 pm, at the Ramada. This is a No-Host gathering. It's BYO drink and an appetizer to share (if you'd like), eating utensils, and we all help clean up. Everyone is welcome. Come on over to the Ramada and see some old friends and meet some new ones!

The Hospitality Committee invites you to join us for dinner on Tuesday, January 24th at the Ramada. The committee members will be making a wide variety of their favorite soups for you to choose from, including: French Market, Cream of Cheddar/Broccoli, Creamy Crack Chicken, Pinto Bean, Butternut Squash, Meatball, Lentil Macaroni, Tortilla, Chicken Dumpling, chili, and a few other choices. Watch next week's MMM for more.  

Dinner will cost $10 and includes soup, Caesar salad, bread/butter, crackers and dessert, plus unlimited complimentary beverages (wine, beer, soda, water, coffee).  

Happy Hour will begin at 4:30 and dinner service will begin at 5:00.

We are excited to have you join us and to support the Hospitality Committee's continuing hard work to provide quality events for Esperanza Estates throughout the year.  

Crafty Crafters

The craft group will be making suncatchers on Thursday January 26th. We will meet at Bernie’s house. 820 W Círculo Napa.

Please bring a variety of beads large and small, a heavier one for the bottom, an empty key ring, 1 inch square and round mirrors (your choice), clothespins and E6000 glue if you have it. I have plenty of fish line to share with you. JoAnn’s has beads on sale this week and they also have the mirrors. The mirrors get glued together so bring however many you want to use. I used 18. The clothespins can be bought at the dollar store. They will hold the mirrors together while they dry. It will take a day for them to dry well, so that is why we are doing them at my house. They can lay out on the tables to dry, and you can pick them up the next day.

Food Shelf at Ramada

We had a nice donation for the food shelf last week. Thank you everyone for your generosity! Many thanks to Phil and Sandy LaVoi for delivering our donations to the Food Bank every week. Your work is greatly appreciated!

Missing Water Aerobics Water Weights

If you have borrowed any of the water aerobics water weights, such as the ones pictured here, from the pool area, we would like to have them returned. We are coming close to the time that we will begin water aerobics again (when the weather is consistently warmer), and having these returned is essential.  Thank you so very much.

Caring Connections

Jane Ellingson

We have heard that former long time EE resident, Jane Ellingson, had a heart attack on Monday, January 9. She had surgery to insert a stent to correct the problem and was able to return home the next day. Jane was a "spark plug" in EE for many years, and nothing would keep her down for long. We know there are folks in the neighborhood who would like to send Jane a card. Here is her address:

A box of medallions was found among some donations for the Enhancement Committee sale. We're not sure that's where they belong, and would like to try to identify the recipient, or the family of that recipient in order to get them back where they belong. If you recognize the medallions or have any information that may be helpful, please contact Robin Lockwood at 612-618-5582. Thank you!

A crowd of 180 people came to the Community Performance and Art Center and another 120 watched a livestream last Tuesday for "U-Care, U-Can, Ukraine," a community effort to support that nation nearly a year after an invasion by Russia.
