Gardeners

From Mary Harp

Welcome back to our Gardeners and we also welcome residents who are interested in joining the Garden Club. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 5 at 8:00 at the Sunset Ramada

Many of you may not know that very few of the Parks or common spaces are on drip lines. We aim to plant low water plants to replace dying plants and enhance the garden areas. However, new plants need water to get started and in very dry times, the whole parks need water.

We would like would like to thank all of those who watered during the dry season and also continue to help water our parks. They are Ken and Carol Flake, Mary Grgich, Mary Harp, Phil and Sandy LaVoi, Donna Smith, Pat Sharpe, Al Prato, and Cyndie and Steve Alto.

We’d also like to thank Vivian Vascellaro, Fred Hills and Joe McCalpin for providing water from their residences for nearby parks or common areas.

And lastly, thank you to Steve Alto and Kevin Welsh who have helped maintain the “Amigo” Carry All that we use for the Gardeners.

Call Rod Harp at 520.329.9103 if you questions or need information.

Common Area Improvements

From Tom Cooke

Some recent work by a group of volunteers has resulted in an enormous improvement to a couple of our common areas. The work is noteworthy and laudable not only for its appearance but for the effort involved. It took hard physical labor to accomplish, and the EEHOA wishes to extend its appreciation to Tom Aigner, Don Hartje, Steve Alto, and Rod Harp.

The work involved rock realignment along both sides to the entire alleyway between Excelso and Del Sur, and the common areas lying south of Del Sur and the small park at the upper end of that street. Previously the rocks in these areas were disheveled and disorderly with no definite pattern. They now form attractive borders and artistic formations which are very pleasing to the eye.

These rocks are heavy and each one had to be lifted and moved into place by these volunteers who expected no reward or recognition for their efforts. It is this type of selfless volunteer effort that makes our neighborhood such a great place to live. Gentlemen, we salute you!

Maintaining Our Street Lamps

From EEHOA Board

The HOA wishes to remind all owners that Section 12.5 of the CC&R’s of Esperanza Estates make it the owners responsibility to maintain and keep operable the street lamp in front of each home, which includes the Quad units. Disconnecting the electricity serving the lamp is specifically not permitted, so winter visitors are not allowed to turn off the power when vacating for the season.

Maintaining the unit includes keeping the post painted and sturdy and keeping the light sensor operating to turn the lamp on at nightfall and off during the daytime. It also includes keeping the lamp head fixture in good condition. If your lamp fails to turn on at darkness or remains on during the daytime, you will need to replace the sensor unit. If your lamp head fixture is damaged or the head has been lost, you will need to replace it. There is only one authorized replacement which is Sea Gull Lighting model 82065-12, available from the HOA or any dealer of your choice at a cost of approximately $50. You will need to make your own arrangements for installation.  If you wish to purchase from the HOA call (520) 399-0455. As a courtesy to owners, the HOA will supply a bulb, including replacement, by calling the same number.

Your Board asks that each owner make an occasional check to assure the lamp is operating correctly and in a well maintained condition including the lamp head fixture. Your cooperation will be appreciated in helping to keep our neighborhood looking its best.

A guy goes in for a job interview and the manager says, “We’re looking for someone who is responsible.” “Well, I’m your man,” the guy replies. “In my last job, whenever anything went wrong, they said I was responsible.”
