The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, February 22 at 9:00 a.m. at the common area along Esperanza (Portillo and Esperanza). Bring tools for clean up, pruning and weeding. New gardeners are always welcome.

Sausage Fest

From Kevin Welsh

The Sausage Fest is back!  Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 22nd.  The Optimists will be grilling their Famous Italian Sausage at the Ramada starting at 4 pm and serving until 100 have been sold.  Cost is $7 for a sausage in a poppy seed bun topped with grilled onions & peppers or sauerkraut with a bag of chips.  Bring your own beverage if you want to eat in the Ramada or you can take it home. All profits go to benefit 'Local Kids' here in Green Valley and Sahuarita.

Hospitality Committee Meeting

From Robin Lockwood

The Hospitality Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, February 23 at 10 am at the Ramada. We will be planning upcoming events for March and April.

For those of you who are new to EE, the Hospitality Committee hosts a neighborhood social event once a month at the Ramada. These events are different from the No Host Happy Hours (Now called Thirsty Thursdays). Each themed event includes a free Happy Hour and then a meal for those in attendance. We charge a minimal fee for some of the events, while others are free. These events have always been well received and attended. They are a great way to meet new neighbors and visit with friends.

Because of COVID, we have not been able to put on a large event for dtwo years. We do feel the time is right for getting these wonderful evenings back on the calendar. We are always looking for new members to help with these events. It is a great way to get to know many wonderful people in your own neighborhood. We work hard, but have a lot of fun. Please join us for this meeting if it sounds like something you may be interested in!!

If you have any questions, please call Robin Lockwood at 612-618-5582.

Thirsty Thursday Happy Hour

Thirsty Thursday is a go!! We had a great group, around 40 folks, at last weeks' first Thirsty Thursday happy hour. Our next Thirsty Thursday will be March 3, at the Ramada at 4 pm. It's fun.....mark your calendars!

Afternoon Water Aerobics to Begin March 1

From Robin Lockwood

After a two year hiatus, afternoon Water Aerobics, led by Penny Huculak, Dean and Robin Lockwood, will start up again! Beginning Tuesday, March 1, we will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM to 3 PM in the EE pool. Once we get going, we can determine if these days and times are compatible for the majority.

This casual, but effective, low impact water exercise begins with a 20-minute warm up in the shallow end of the pool, 20 minutes of water resistance work with foam aquatic dumbbells in the deep end, and ends with 20 minutes of strengthening and stretching back in the shallow end. It is adaptable to all levels of fitness and ages. Both men and women are welcome!

There are a number of sets of foam aquatic dumbbells at the pool for your use, if needed. If you have your own, please bring them!

Please join us for fun and exercise!

Food Donations

From Sandy LaVoi

Just a reminder about food donations....please check the expiration dates on your packages. We received a donation last week with expiration dates of 2016. That might be an extreme example, but it can be shocking to discover how long something has been lurking in the back of your pantry. As usual, thanks so much to EE residents for your generous donations to our food shelf at the Ramada.

Good to Know

These services are available Monday, Tuesday and Fridays from 7am – 4pm at the Desert Hills Lutheran Church for the Green Valley Community. To schedule an appointment, go to their website, Desert Hills Lutheran is located at 2150 Camino del Sol. Drive through testing is on the west side of their parking lot.

AT&T Shuts Down Their 3G Network

Source: CNN

AT&T is shutting down its 3G network this Tuesday, Feb 22. The move will impact people still using 3G Kindles, 3G flip phones, the iPhone 5 and older models, various Android phones and some wearable devices. It will also affect home alarm systems and medical devices such as fall detectors. Some in-car crash notification and roadside assistance systems like OnStar will also need to be updated or replaced. You can read more at the CNN Business website. Contact AT&T for more information about how this may affect your service with them.

Entertainment

CPAC Events

CPAC is a local non-profit Foundation that provides entertainment to resdients. Several Esperanza Estates residents are active participants at CPAC. The programs are highly recommended, but it's too numerous to list all details here in the MMM. Please go to the CPAC web site for more information and to purchase tickets.
