The Hospitality Committee Invites you to "SOUPer Supper."

Source: Robin Lockwood and Debbie Ries

The Hospitality Committee invites you to join us for a SOUPer Supper on Tuesday, January 20, at the Ramada.

Our team is making up a variety of 18 of their favorite soups for you to enjoy, including: Zuppa Toscata, Clam Chowder, Cheeseburger w/sausage, Curried Squash, Vegetarian Chili, Black Bean Sausage, Broccoli Cheddar, Chicken Noodle, Cullen Skins (Scottish fish/potato soup), and more!!!

There will be several delicious gluten-free soup options available. This meal will also include a salad, dinner rolls, gluten-free corn bread, and dessert.

The cost of this meal will be $10.00, which will include complimentary beverages (beer,

wine, water, soda, and coffee). Hospitality will also provide plates, bowls, cups, and

utensils. We will have our patio heaters ready to warm us all up!

At the end of the evening, if there is extra soup, you will be able to purchase a 16-oz.

to-go container for $5.00! It’s a great way to have a meal “lurking” in your refrigerator or

freezer!

We would like to encourage you to bring a can or two of soup (or any non-perishable

item) for the local food bank!

If you are new to Esperanza Estates, you will also be able to order name tags this night.

Event: SOUPer Supper, Tuesday, Jan. 20

Place: The Ramada

Time: The bar will open at 4:30 pm, with dinner service starting at approximately 5:00 pm.

Cost: $10.00 at the door (Cash, please)

Please bring cans of soup for the local Food Bank.

We look forward to seeing you!

Afternoon Water Aerobics Is Back!!

From Penny Huculak, Kay Larson, and Robin Lockwood

Please join us as we start up Afternoon Water Aerobics again, beginning Thursday, January 22 and Friday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the pool. This wonderful activity is fun and low impact. The sessions will begin with a 20 minute warm up in the shallow end to get your heart rate up, followed by 20 minutes of stretching, core strengthening and resistance work using Aquatic Dumbbells in the deep end (or shallow end if you prefer). We will end with a 20 minute Wind Down section back in the shallow end for arm strength and muscle relaxation.

Everyone will need a set of Aquatic Dumbbells. There are a few sets available at the pool to borrow.  Otherwise, you can purchase a set on Amazon. We recommend the Theraband Water Weights in a medium resistance (green label) or heavy (blue label) for more resistance.  If you bring your own, please mark them with your name or initials.

Following this "start up" week, sessions will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 2:00 p.m. at the pool.

We hope you can join us for a fun way to exercise and some great camaraderie.

Thirsty Thursday

We will have Thirsty Thursday this week, on Thursday, January 22, at 4 p.m., at the Ramada. We'll keep the same no-host plan, which means BYOB and snacks, and we all help with the cleanup.

Just a note about cleanup....since we don't have a host, we all need to pitch in and put the Ramada back in order when we leave. That means moving the chairs and tables back, picking up the pillows, cleaning the kitchen area, and throwing away our trash, among other things. Please pitch in as much as you can before you leave.

Book Club

Source: Hugh Rhine

The January meeting of the Book Club had a good discussion of Jared Cohen's "Life After Power."

On February 12 at 11:00 the book will be "Circle of Days" by Ken Follett which is historical fiction focused on the building of Stonehenge.

On March 12 the discussion will be on "The Widow" by John Grisham, and on April 9 the discussion will be on "Hornet Flight" by Ken Follett.

Good To Know

EE Arts and Crafts Group

Source: Janet Shown

Sometimes it doesn't take much to inspire a masterwork of creativity. A few rocks, a twig or two, and some inspirational photos prompted some of your artsy neighbors to create theirs at last week's meeting of the EE Arts and Crafts Group. The theme was Pebble Art, and the outcome was charming with a side of hilarity. It's always a kick to share the spark of creative genius with others. Come find out at our next group gathering!

Next up, Nature Art (see examples here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DfcpfKZrpGcJ_hALVASOKlxCcpCM-hee)
