GVR CEO Somers

  • GVR dues will increase from $515 to $530 for next year.

District 4 Representative Tom Berezny

  • Funding has been approved for the Campbell Rd extension.

As a reminder, interested individuals are always welcome at the monthly GVC BOR meeting. If interested in attending let me know, and I will have the date and time of the next meeting. I can be reached by phone, Hugh Rhine at (303) 249-5745

Special Event

Halloween Celebration

From Robin Lockwood and Debbie Ries, Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee is back at work for this season, and we would like to invite everyone to our first event, a HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION!  This event will be a potluck dinner on Thursday, October 31st at the Ramada.

This is different from the bi-weekly Thirsty Thursdays, which are NON-HOSTED events. The only thing you need to please bring is an appetizer, main course, or a dessert to share. The Hospitality Committee provides plates, napkins, utensils and cups. We also provide COMPLIMENTARY beverages (beer, wine, soda and water) and will be featuring a specialty Halloween drink, WITCHES BREW! The Committee will also be responsible for the clean up after the event is done, so you can relax and enjoy the evening.

We are also hosting a Pumpkin Decorating contest.  Your pumpkin can be carved, painted or otherwise decorated. (Please do this in your own home.) There will be prizes for our most artfully designed pumpkins.

You are encouraged to wear costumes or other Halloween attire. And, donations for the Food Bank of Green Valley are appreciated.

Complimentary Happy Hour begins at 4:30 pm

Dinner service will begin around 5:00 pm.

New Arts and Crafts Group

From Janet Shown

Calling EE Artisans and Crafters and all wannabes. Join me for a fall organizational meeting at 10 a.m. this coming Tuesday, Oct. 29. We'll gather at the Ramada to throw around some ideas and get a regular schedule going for the season.

I am happy to say that a new friend of mine is an arts and craft teacher, and has agreed to teach several classes over the fall and winter for our EE group. She teaches a wide variety of arts and crafts including "neurographica" inspired watercolor paintings" which have been exhibited in October at Las Campanas Rec Center. I know that we also have many people in EE who will share their crafting gifts and talents. Maybe you're one?

Whether you're interested in joining the group or sharing your talents, please contact me at jansho@yahoo.com or 720-749-0273.

The Police Department Exam

Thanks Linda Sielken (long joke, but....)

Three blondes were applying for the last available position in the Wyoming Sheriff's Department. The detective conducting the interview looked at the three of them and said, "So ya'll want to be a cop, eh?" The blondes all nodded.

The detective got up, opened a file drawer and pulled out a file folder. Sitting back down, he opened it up and pulled out a picture and said, "To be a detective, you have to be able to detect. You must be able to notice such things as distinguishing features and oddities, like scars and tattoos. "So saying, he stuck the photo in the face of the first blonde and withdrew it after about two seconds.

"Now," he said, "did you notice any distinguishing features about the man?"

The blonde immediately said, "Yes, I did. He has only one eye!" The detective shook his head and said, "Of course he has only one eye in this picture! It's a profile of his face! You're dismissed!" The first blonde hung her head and walked out of the office.

The detective then turned to the second blonde, stuck the same photo in her face for two seconds, pulled it back and said, "What about you? Did you notice anything unusual or outstanding about this man?" "Yes! He only has one ear!" The detective put his head in his hand and exclaimed, "Didn't you hear what I just told the other? This is a profile of the man's face! Of course you can only see one ear! You're excused, too!" The second blonde sheepishly walked out of the office.

The detective turned his attention to the third and last blonde and said, "This is probably a waste of time, but...." He flashed the photo in her face for a couple of seconds and withdrew it, saying, "All right. Did you notice anything distinguishing or unusual about this man?" The blonde replied, "I sure did! This man wears contact lenses."

The detective frowned, examined the picture and began reviewing some of the papers in the folder. He looked up at the blonde with a puzzled expression and said, "You're absolutely right! His bio says he wears contacts! How in the world could you tell that by looking at this picture?”

The blonde rolled her eyes and said, "Well, duhhhhhhh! With only one eye and one ear he certainly can't wear glasses!
