Neighborhood News

Cribbage is cancelled

From Hugh Rhine

Cribbage is canceled this week. There will be an announcement in the MMM when it starts up again.

Gardeners

source: Pat Zehrer

Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, 11/4 @8am

We’ll start on the corner of Esperanza and Portillo.. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged!!

We will be gone in November and December, returning in January.

If you have the inclination, you can grab a bucket and pull some weeds while we are away.

Esperanza Estates is known for its beautiful gardens and community volunteerism. Without volunteers, the gardens would need to be taken care by a service which would increase our HOA dues.

We hope you will join us in the new year for 1 hour of fun weed-pulling and great conversation on Tuesdays.

Gardening with a group is fun, healthy. and extremely rewarding. So please pick up your gloves and help us keep EE beautiful."

Have a wonderful holiday season!

If you have any questions, please call me @ 952.270.0384

We found these Glasses by Monument Park. I have put them by the pool sign on the desk.

Thirsty Thursday

We will have Thirsty Thursday this week, November 6th, at 4 pm, at the Ramada. We'll keep the same no-host plan, which means BYOB and snacks, and we all help with the cleanup.

Just a note about cleanup....since we don't have a host, we all need to pitch in and put the Ramada back in order when we leave. That means moving the chairs and tables back, picking up the pillows, cleaning the kitchen area, throwing away our trash, etc. Please pitch in as much as you can before you leave.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome to Esperanza Estates Pickleball, the HOME OF THE 2025 65+ MIXED STATE CHAMPIONS!

Pickleball Drills and Skills

This is the last series of drills and skills for this season. Series IV will be held on March 4th, 11th, and 18th. The focus this month is to recognize the color of the ball you are hitting and what you're giving your opponent. Learning to place your second hand on the paddle. Understanding top spin and its effectiveness at the net, in transition, and from the baseline. Movement and footwork and its fundamental importance to every shot.

Stay calm and Pickle on,

Joke Of The Month

From: John Nesavich

After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet" which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS pilots ("P") and solutions recorded ("S") by maintenance engineers:

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.

S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.

S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit

S: Something tightened in cockpit

P: Dead bugs on windshield.

S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent

S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.

S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.

S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.

S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.

S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.

S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.

S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.

S: Aircraft warned to: straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.

S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.

S: Cat installed.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget
