Neighborhood News

What a Great Event!!

From Robin Lockwood

Thank you to everyone in the fabulous neighborhood of Esperanza Estates who attended the Hospitality Team hosted "Warm Up With Chili" event last week. After a 2 year hiatus of being able to organize gatherings due to COVID, it was heartwarming to see the response and support from this community! We sold tickets for 130 meals, which is one of the highest ever! We appreciate the excitement and positive energy that this neighborhood exhibited. It was a great way to re-energize our committee and to get us back on our feet so that we can continue the tradition of hosting monthly events at the Ramada (except in the hot summer months). Please mark your calendars for our April event on Tuesday, April 5th. Keep an eye on the Monday Morning Memo for details.

I want to express my gratitude to the 12 members of the Hospitality Committee who made their favorite chili recipes just for you! And a lot of thanks go to all of the team members who work hard to shop, cook, clean ahead of time and set up, serve, clean up after and just mingle with all of you. This committee works hard to make sure you have fun and are fed well. In doing so, we sure have a lot of fun, too!

Gardeners

From Mary Harp

The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, March 15th at 9:00 a.m. at the Portillo Bridge park. Bring tools for clean up, pruning and weeding at the Park. New gardeners are always welcome. Call Rod Harp with questions, 520-329-9103.

Crafty Crafters

From Bernie Olson

The Crafty Crafters will meet this Thursday, March 17, 1 pm, at the Ramada. This week bring your own projects to work on, and bring your ideas for future projects for the group. Come on down for a visit....both girls and guys welcome! Please call Bernie with questions, 920-254-9277.

Thirsty Thursday (St. Patrick's Day!)

EE's Thirsty Thursday Happy Hour is this Thursday, March 17, at the Ramada, at 4:00 pm.

It's St. Patrick's Day, so think green....wear green, drink green, eat green.....whatever says "Happy St. Pat's Day" to you.

As always, we will follow the no-host plan...bring your own beverages, appetizers are optional, bring your own utensils, and help clean up.

Mostly, come on down, have fun, and bring your Blarney!

New Contacts for Ordering Name Badges

From Robin Lockwood

For those of you who would like to order "official" Esperanza Estates name badges for use at association events held at the Ramada, the new contacts are either Robin Lockwood (612-618-5582) or Debbie Ries (425-530-6384). You can access the form for name badges by using the link provided here, or find forms to fill out on the bulletin board at the Ramada. The cost is $6.00 per badge, and cash is preferred. There can be a production time of 2 - 3 weeks.  Having a name badge is a great way for everyone to get to know each other better, and easier for those of us who have a hard time remembering names!!!

If you had ordered a badge in the past year and did not receive it, please contact Robin Lockwood at 612-618-5582.

Book Club

From Linda Sielken

The EE Book Club meets the second Thursday of each month (excluding summer months). The next EE Book Club discussion will be Thursday, April 14, 10 am, Ramada. This month we are reading The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles. The discussion will be led by Fred Hills.

Monday Morning Memo Needs Help

From Judy Hayes

I am looking for someone who would be willing to help with the production of the Monday Morning Memo. It's a great way to get involved in our neighborhood. I'm not quitting, but it would be very helpful to have someone to work with and provide backup. Please give me a call if you are interested, Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email, jkhayes70@gmail.com.

Good to Know

Disposing of Expired Medications

The question about where to dispose of expired medications in Green Valley recently came up (thanks Donna Shay). Donna found that the CVS Pharmacy at the Continental Mall has an expired medicine bin inside the store at the left of the pharmacy counter. The CVS pharmacy close at 5 pm and will take the both the pills and pill bottles.

We also discovered that the Sheriff's Department in Green Valley has a Dispose-A-Med bin, 601 N La Canada Dr. The Sheriff's bin is accessible Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Note that you will need to dump the pills in a baggie (all mixed together), as the Sheriff will take only the pills, not the pill bottles.
