2026 Board Member Election
From Ken Lindeman, HOA Board Secretary
I would like to nominate “you” to run for the Esperanza Board of Directors. Esperanza Estates is run by a volunteer “Homeowners Association” versus a paid management company. I am again encouraging residents to volunteer for this board by entering their name in the upcoming election. Please text me, Ken Lindeman, at 970-232-4129 or email me at eesecy@gmail.com if you would like to have your name on the 2026 ballot. Thank you.
Please give this your consideration. Nine volunteers are on this board. Each year, the HOA has an election for three new board members. The term for a board member is three years, and three board member terms are up for replacement every three years. My name is Ken Lindeman, and I am chairing the nominating committee for the 2026 election. I would like to encourage residents to volunteer by entering their name in the upcoming election.
If you would like to have your name on the ballot.

Please mark your calendars for December 11th at 4:30 PM. The Hospitality team is hosting “Toyland,” our holiday celebration for Esperanza Estates. We are partnering with the Santa Rita Fire Department in collecting new, unwrapped toys that evening. The evening will be a potluck dinner, with beverages and desserts provided. Please watch the future Monday Morning Memo over the next few weeks for more specific details. We’d love to have a fabulous turnout and a super participation in gathering toys for this event.

Thirsty Thursday
There are no other scheduled events, despite it falling on Thanksgiving Day. Therefore, we will have Thirsty Thursday this week, November 27th, at 4 pm, at the Ramada. We'll keep the same no-host plan, which means BYOB and snacks, and we all help with the cleanup.
Just a note about cleanup....since we don't have a host, we all need to pitch in and put the Ramada back in order when we leave. That means moving the chairs and tables back, picking up the pillows, cleaning the kitchen area, and throwing away our trash, among other things. Please pitch in as much as you can before you leave.

History of Thanksgiving
source: John Nesavich
In November 1621, after the Pilgrims’ first corn harvest proved successful, Governor William Bradford organized a celebratory feast and invited a group of the fledgling colony’s Native American allies, including the Wampanoag chief Massasoit. Now remembered as America’s “first Thanksgiving”—although the Pilgrims themselves may not have used the term at the time—the festival lasted for three days.
Pilgrims held their second Thanksgiving celebration in 1623 to mark the end of a long drought that had threatened the year’s harvest and prompted Governor Bradford to call for a religious fast. Days of fasting and thanksgiving on an annual or occasional basis became common practice in other New England settlements as well.
The tradition of giving thanks continued in different forms for many years.
In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln declared a national Thanksgiving Day to be celebrated each November.
In 1941, Congress officially set the holiday as the fourth Thursday in November, which is how we celebrate it today.
This year, Thanksgiving is on Thursday, November 27th.

Almost Time to Decorate Your Lamp Posts For the Holidays...
You can have help from your EE Elves!!
From Gloria Creagh
A long-standing tradition in our Esperanza Estates HOA is having our street lamp posts festively decorated from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
For new owners, you will need the electrical plug-in, which goes in the light bulb socket of the lamp post. This allows you to plug in your string of lights that turn on at dusk. You can then creatively decorate your light post.
If you are unable to take on this decorating task, we have volunteer Enhancement Elves to assist you. They will decorate your post for just $15.00 if you supply the decorations. If we supply the decorations, we suggest a $25.00 donation. Everything belongs to you when we take the decorations down.
ELVES: John and Gloria Creagh
WHEN: We begin right after Thanksgiving. The deadline for requesting this service is December 1st.
To request the Enhancement Elves’ help or if you have any questions, please call Gloria Creagh at (920) 323-1646.
