Storing Personal Property in Common Areas

From Tom Cooke, HOA Board

All residents are reminded that pursuant to section 9.10 of the CCR’s of Esperanza Estates no person is permitted to store any type of property or to do any activity or construction in any common area, and this includes the alleyways. A number of violations of this provision have been noted, and the Board wishes your voluntary compliance without the necessity of further action. Thank you for your attention to this request.

Annual Optimist Sausage Fest

Thursday, February 22

From Robin Lockwood, Hospitality Committee

THE HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE INVITES YOU TO JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL OPTIMIST "SAUSAGE FEST"

Please join the hospitality team as we host the Green Valley Optimist Club as they cook their "world famous" handmade Italian sausages for EE's much anticipated SAUSAGE FEST 2024 on Thursday, February 22nd at the Ramada. Dinner will include a sausage on a bun with optional grilled onions, green peppers and sauerkraut. Sides will include coleslaw, chips and a cookie for dessert. As always, the Hospitality Committee will provide plates, napkins, utensils, cups and serve complimentary beverages; wine, beer, soda, coffee and water.

The cost of this wonderful dinner is $10.00 per plate. It is important to note that this fee is for one full dinner per person.  There will not be seconds on sausages offered without an additional cost. The Optimists have committed to cooking 150 sausages, so come early to assure that you will get your meal. Happy Hour will begin at 4:30, and dinner will begin around 5:00, when the sausages are fully cooked.

All profits from this event will go to the Optimist Club mission to support kids' programs throughout Green Valley and Sahuarita. There will be Optimists Club members available to explain their mission.

Collection of Ramada Sale Donations

From Gloria Creagh, (920) 323-1646

Are you cleaning and want to know what to do with your unwanted treasures? Your Esperanza Enhancement team will gladly take them and add to items for our next Ramada Sale! When we collect enough items we will again have our sale, which earns money to make improvements to our neighborhood. It’s a win-win!

This week the Enhancement Team is collecting donations on Wednesday, February 14, from 9 am -12 pm, at the shed next to the pickleball courts. There will be volunteers available to assist you. Future collections will be on the second Wednesday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Please note that we are unable to accept large furniture, TVs, or electronic technology items.

Cribbage Group

From Hugh Rhine

We had our initial meeting of the new Cribbage Group, and we agreed to schedule weekly get-togethers on Wednesday afternoons, 3 pm at the Ramada. Our next meeting is this week, Wednesday, February 14, 3 pm. This is a friendly, relaxed group which includes folks who have played cribbage, folks who need a refresher, and folks who are new to the game. If the weather is unfriendly for cards at the Ramada, we will meet at an indoor location. Watch for an eblast email if the location changes. Come join in...call Hugh with questions, 303-249-5745.

Craft Group, Thursdays, 1 pm, Ramada

From Bernie Olson

We had lots of crafters at our meeting last week, with lots of ideas for projects. We agreed to meet weekly on Thursday afternoons, 1 pm, at the Ramada (as long as there is enough interest.) Our next meeting is Thursday, February 15.

This week the Craft Group will be painting rocks. Please bring any paints you may have to share, brushes, and clean dry rocks for your project. We'll have extra rocks too. If your painted rocks will be outside, it's a good idea to spray them with UV polyurethane spray; please bring some to share if you have extra.

We might also start making feathers out of yarn. That project will carry over to the next week. Bring yarn you want to use and scissors, and there will likely be yarn to share. You can also use macrame cord. If you don't have yarn, check out the White Elephant or the Animal League Resale Store. We will have a bottle of starch. Please bring a jar to use for starch that you will need to take home. The starch has to dry for two days, so that part will have to be done at home.

Thirsty Thursday

Thirsty Thursday Happy Hour is this week on Thursday, February 15, 4 pm at the Ramada. Thirsty Thursday is a no-host Bring Your Own Beverage event. It's not necessary to bring food, but of course snacks are always welcome. Most importantly, bring yourselves on over to the Ramada for a fun and friendly visit. Hope to see you there!

Rock Monkeys

From Tom Aigner

Thank you to Dean Lockwood, for not only for your help as a fellow Rock Monkey, but for the use of your vehicle. It has made a huge contribution toward getting this project near the end! And, thanks again to the Enhancement Committee. We are making good use of your $400 contribution to our project.

EE Book Club

From Hugh Rhine and Linda Sielken

Book Club meets on the second Thursday of each month; next meeting will be March 14, 11 am, at the Ramada.

The Book Club selection for March is Lady Tans Circle of Women by Lisa See, led by Linda Sielken. Amazon comments....According to Confucius, “an educated woman is a worthless woman,” but Tan Yunxian—born into an elite family, yet haunted by death, separations, and loneliness—is being raised by her grandparents to be of use. Her grandmother is one of only a handful of female doctors in China, and she teaches Yunxian the pillars of Chinese medicine, the Four Examinations—looking, listening, touching, and asking—something a man can never do with a female patient.

In April, Karen O'Brien will lead the book discussion on West With Giraffes, by Linda Rutledge.
