I've been happy to highlight our staff's work in these weekly Noon Notes, but as you can imagine, these highlights represent only a portion of the good work being done. My Executive Assistant Kristen Hester and staff Administrative Assistant Zach Bishop aren't featured here, but they do so much to help the rest of us do our work well. Thank you, Kristen and Zach!
As you also might imagine, sensitive and confidential matters occupy a good amount of my time and staff time, and we can't share those stories in the Noon Notes. You'll have to take my word for it that we're doing all we can to support our parishes, clergy, missions, and ministries and to encourage and equip all of the saints for ministry.
I met with four of our diocesan vocational deacons last week for one-on-one conversations about their ministries and hopes moving forward together. What a wonderful group of deacons we have, and it is a joy to get to know them better!
I also met with four priests from around our diocese to build relationships and learn more about the history of, and hopes for, various ministries they’re part of. One of those meetings was with the Rev. Tuck Bowerfind and the Very Rev. Katherine Doyle to get up to speed on the Haiti Collaborative. Look for more information about that soon.
Additionally I had a great conversation with the Senior Warden of Christ Church, Big Stone Gap, to prepare for my upcoming visitation there.
Because of the holiday weekend, I didn't have a Saturday "Meet the Bishop" event or a Sunday visitation and don’t have any photos to share from my meetings, so I’m sharing a photo of each of my “Canines to the Ordinary” instead!
