Dear Beloved Community,

I was able to quarantine over spring break so I could hold my two-month-old niece for the first time a week ago and it felt like Hope. I received my second vaccine dose and it felt like Hope. Celebrating Easter, flowers blooming, the beautiful sunshine as I write this, and longer days all feel like Hope. And yet. So much this past year has been the antithesis of hope. At times it has seemed elusive. Through the valleys of this year, I can point to specific times that God has used people to encourage me. It has brought me much-needed hope.

When my second-grade students learned that around 750 families visit Jubilee Reach each week to pick up groceries for their families, they realized that perhaps these families need a little extra dose of hope. A little extra encouragement. The students were eager to live God’s story by encouraging the families at Jubilee Reach. They have been drawing, writing, and designing encouragement cards to be placed in the bags of groceries. They have taken cards home to make in their spare time. Some got their siblings involved! How great that second graders know that they can be the hands and feet of Jesus. To be light in the darkness. To be Community Builders by loving others. We pray that these cards encourage and spark hope in those receiving them. I mean, who wouldn’t love a note that says “Have a Flappy Day” or an adorable picture of Baby Yoda?! We can’t send a card to each of you, but we can share one of our current favorite songs with you. I pray it encourages you and you experience hope today!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
Hello Families,

We are blessed to have amazing teachers and staff members educating and caring for our children at school. We have an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate these hardworking and dedicated individuals during Staff Appreciation Week May 4-7. Below, you will see the events that are planned for the staff during the week. Additionally, we sent an email last week from your class’s room parent regarding staff gifts. If you did not receive an email, please let your Room Parent know.

We look forward to celebrating and sharing gratitude with the Three Points teachers and staff for Staff Appreciation Week! There are several opportunities for you to help, either with a flower/food donation or volunteering on campus. Please click here to access the signup page and choose your spot(s).

  • Tuesday 5/4 – Flower Bouquet Day
  • Wednesday 5/5 – Candy Bar
  • Thursday 5/6 – Thank You Note Day
  • Friday 5/7 – Boxed lunches will be provided to all staff members

Be sure to keep an eye out for additional emails from your Room Parents about the Thank You Note day. We want to make sure that every staff member on campus feels the gratitude that we all have for their devotion and enthusiasm to our kids this year!

Please reach out to either of us if you have questions.

Reminders
Car Chute
Please remember to turn right to Evergreen Point Drive when exiting the Car Chute. Thank you.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please call our office right away at (425) 454-3977. If our office is closed, email threepointsoffice@bellevuechristian.org as soon as possible. Delayed notification complicates contract tracing, an essential step in stopping the spread of the virus. Providing us with information about 1) when symptoms developed, 2) the test date and 3) the results - help us meet our notification requirements to King County Public Health. Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe.

Also, please remember to complete the daily health screening for your child via the Magnus Health app. When a green "GO" pops up, take a screenshot of it and show it to school personnel as you're going through the car chute. Thank you!
Recess Corner
Thank you, PTF, for providing the funds needed to replace some well-loved recess equipment. Badminton birdies and jump ropes have been ordered and are on their way!

Washington State recently moved into Phase 3. Because of that, Three Points is now allowing a select few competitive sports to be played at recess. We have made additions that mirror the sports being played by our BCS high school students.  All our students at Three Points are required to wear masks while playing these sports competitively at recess and continue to sanitize their hands before and after recess. The students are so grateful to have soccer added to the activities allowed at recess. It has been a joy to watch them play games and show off their skills! They are anxiously awaiting some competitive basketball games that hopefully will start mid-May when the high school season is projected to start. Thank you for supporting us in these conversations at home as we patiently wait and work to safely add new activities.

We continue to reinforce sound decision-making by recognizing students who are found making choices that bear good fruit. This spring, HiChew treats are being placed on “You Have Been Spotted” cards.

Watch for those to come home with your student in the next few months!

Preschool News
Preschool's Deep Hope!

Mrs. Koorn’s Deep Hope for her students is to find evidence of God’s love for them and share that love with others.
Her preschool students are adept at finding God sightings, or evidence of God’s love for them, in eagle sightings, beloved stuffed animals, special people, and more. They frequently share God’s love within the classroom by helping one another, sharing toys, and even constructing clothing for toy dinosaurs (see picture)! Preschool students are moving beyond their own class community to share God’s love with others. Children excitedly harvested lovingly tended flowers and bestowed them upon their families. What Joy!

We are looking to add to our wonderful preschool staff for the upcoming school year. Please see the link above in the "BCS is Hiring" section if you or someone you know is interested in the position.
