CalSavers Employer Compliance Deadline Approaching
Five or more employees? Deadline this week
CalSavers is California's retirement savings program designed for for the millions of Californians who lack a way to save for retirement at their job. CalSavers was created by legislation passed in 2016 requiring California employers who do not offer an employer sponsored plan and have five or more employees to facilitate CalSavers - an automatic enrollment individual retirement account (IRA) with no employer fees or fiduciary liability.

California's new mandate is phased in over three years, with deadlines based on employer size. Employers with five or more employees have until June 30, 2022.
Join us for Leadership Pleasanton
Now accepting applications for next class
Leadership Pleasanton is a program to develop community leaders, co-sponsored by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Pleasanton.

The Goal
  • Identify and motivate individuals who are committed to the betterment of the Pleasanton community
  • Acquaint participants with community assets, needs, and issues; and provide a forum to discuss these challenges with current community leaders.
  • Encourage active community involvement, whether in politics, non-profit organizations, boards, and/or commissions.

The Program
Leadership Pleasanton is comprised of individuals from all sectors of our community. The participants meet monthly from September through May, and classes are presented through experiences that inform, educate and challenge. Sessions are designed to be interactive and participants are expected to share their experiences and viewpoints.

Each year 25-30 individuals from local businesses, professional, government, social and service organizations participate in the program. We are now accepting applications for the Leadership Pleasanton Class of 2022-23. Space is limited, reserve your spot today. Deadline to register is August 1.

EBCE Welcome to Summer
Shift and Save
The days are getting hotter and California starts to use more electricity to cool itself off. June marks the beginning of Summer rates. Summer rates, when peak prices are highest, are in effect for 4 months, from June through September. Peak hours are 4-9 p.m. every day.

The rate period (time of the day) which offers the greatest savings opportunities compared to the Peak hours are the off Peak hours from 12am to 2 pm and 11 pm to midnight every day, June through September.

Next in terms of savings opportunities compared to the Peak hours are the Partial-peak periods (during summer months only) running from 2-4 p.m. and 9-11 p.m. every day, June through September.

Any shifting of electrical usage from the Peak hours of 4-9 p.m. every day to off Peak hours or Partial-peak hours will result in reduced electrical costs compared to the Peak hour costs.

Find more information about the different rate plan options at PG&E's Tariffs webpage.
Tri-Valley Water Agencies Encourage Local Business Community to Reimagine its Landscaping
Water agencies are here to help
A statewide ban on irrigating non-functional turf at non-residential properties is now in effect. On June 10, 2022, the California State Water Resources Control Board enacted a new emergency water conservation regulation banning all commercial, institutional, and industrial properties statewide from irrigating “non-functional” turf with potable (drinking) water. Non-functional turf is any grass that is purely decorative and is not used for recreation or civic/community events.

This new regulation affects non-residential properties such as offices, retail stores, hotels, places of worship, and non-profit organizations. Turf that has a functional purpose or is irrigated with recycled water can still be watered.

The Tri-Valley's water agencies are here to help.
