Ninth-Grade Haybaler Support Time Sessions Focus on Baler STRONG

Friday, Sept. 18 marked the official launch of the new Baler 9th Grade HSTs (Haybaler Support Times) designed to help incoming freshmen seamlessly transition into high school life. Organized in close collaboration with the Associated Student Body (ASB) and ASB Director Mrs. Laurie Chavez, Friday's kickoff session focused on what it truly means to be a "scholar on campus."

Throughout the school year, these HST sessions will serve as a vital guide for the 9th-grade class, covering key areas to ensure student success:

- Navigating Campus: Helping freshmen feel confident finding their way around.

- Understanding Expectations: Setting clear standards for academic and personal conduct.

- Accessing Support Services: Connecting students with campus resources, academic help, and counseling.

With student leaders and staff working together, these HSTs aim to empower every freshman to build a strong foundation for their high school journey.

Baler Athletes of The Week

Congratulations to the Baler Athletes of the Week from last week: Varsity Boys Water Polo player Hayden Razo and Varsity Field Hockey player Miranda Mendoza. Here's what their coaches shared about them:

Hayden was moved up last week from JV to Varsity and it was a seamless transition. He played hard and contributed in our game against Carmel.

Miranda is a dedicated athlete who pushes everyone around her to be the best they can be. She is headstrong and proactive. As a goalie, she leads from behind with a humble, calm, and coachable attitude. Every day, she brings new workouts and ideas to make herself and her teammates better. Let's go Miranda!

Balers Participate in Band Day at SJSU

Hollister High School's Scarlet Regiment Band on Saturday, Sept. 19, was among 14 schools featuring more than 700 students who participated in Band Day at San Jose State University. The Balers took the field alongside the Spartan Marching Band, which features Hollister High School alumni Lauren Agredano and Ethan Nordloff.

Attendance Reminders For Seniors

Attention, Hollister High School seniors: Attendance matters—especially during your senior year! Seniors who accumulate more than 30 period absences or more than 10 days of absences may lose privileges, including prom, the Senior Trip, Senior Sunset and participation in the graduation ceremony. Missing HST also counts toward these absence totals. Make every day count so you don’t miss the special moments that come with being a senior. You miss school, you miss out!

Student HST Tutors Sought

Hollister High School is still seeking students interested in peer tutoring during Haybaler Support Time. Tutoring sessions will begin after the break in early October. Students can use the link below to register. The first training session will be Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 3:15 p.m. in Room 241.
