Peer Tutoring During HST Period

A Peer Tutoring Program during Haybaler Support Time (HST) began Monday, Oct. 27 in the Student Union. Algebra I tutoring sessions will be offered on Mondays and Tuesdays, with plans to expand into additional subjects in the near future. "The goal of this program is to provide students with extra academic support in a comfortable, collaborative setting while also giving peer tutors the opportunity to strengthen their own understanding and leadership skills," Hollister High School Assistant Principal Derek Barnes said. Students can sign up to be tutors to earn community service hours.

Baler Athletes of The Week

Join us in congratulating Cross Country runners Andrew Parra and Prienna Chavez — our Hollister High School Baler Athletes of the Week for October 20-24!

Andrew Parra – Varsity Cross Country

“Andrew competes at a high level and runs with passion and determination. He is one of the top runners in the league, leading by example and always showing a positive attitude on and off the course. Andrew captures the spirit of being Baler Strong!”

Prienna Chavez – Varsity Cross Country

“Prienna has been competing at a very high level this cross country season. She is ranked #1 in the PCAL and has become the fastest Baler in school history to run three miles over a cross country course. Prienna is not only a great athlete, but also a great teammate — always at the finish line cheering on others and celebrating their efforts. This is what being a Baler is all about!”

Congratulations to Andrew and Prienna for their incredible performances, leadership, and sportsmanship — true examples of Baler Pride!

College Fair Welcomes Hundreds

On October 22, Mattson Gym was filled with energy, excitement, and possibility as approximately 402 people attended Hollister High School’s annual College Fair. The event drew 235 students, along with parents, guardians, and community members eager to explore the many postsecondary options available to our students.

Representatives from 25 colleges and universities — including campuses from the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU) systems, as well as private, out-of-state, and community colleges — spent several hours connecting with attendees. Local military recruiters were also present, offering information about enlistment and educational benefits for those considering service.

Students and families had the chance to meet with admissions representatives from schools such as UC Davis, Santa Clara University, CSU Monterey Bay, Arizona State University, CSU Stanislaus, UC Santa Cruz, San Francisco State, and UC San Diego, among others. Conversations covered topics like admission policies, student life, academic majors, scholarships, and tuition — all aimed at helping students make informed decisions about their futures.

Many students left feeling inspired and motivated to take the next steps in their college journeys.

“It was a great night and an opportunity to meet such a variety of college admission representatives all in one location,” one student shared.
Another added, “I was so happy to see that UC Davis was here to answer my questions about my application and admission. After we met, I am definitely applying to that school.”
A junior remarked, “I was amazed by how the representative from Santa Clara University was so nice and gave me so much insight into their programs and what I could apply for.”
One senior noted, “The college representative shared some great scholarship opportunities for me to apply to by January, so this was very helpful and informative, as this was my number one choice of college.”
Even underclassmen found inspiration, with one sophomore commenting, “I am only a sophomore but am already thinking about college, and this was a great event to get me started.”

As the evening concluded, counselors and staff expressed gratitude to the colleges and recruiters who took time to attend and support Hollister High students. The annual College Fair continues to be one of the school’s most impactful events — helping students envision their future and empowering them to take the first steps toward achieving their goals.
