It's New Teacher Academy Week

It's New Teacher Academy week at Hollister High School. Led for the sixth year by Teacher Support Program/Induction Coordinator Kathy Picchi, planning for the week starts at the beginning of May. Every aspect of the school is involved so advanced planning is crucial. The New Teacher Academy is more than a 30-year tradition in the district. "We offer our new teachers workshops on best teaching practices and onboarding presentations to give them the best possible start to the new school year," Mrs. Picchi said. "There is time set aside for teachers to work in their classrooms for preparation and chances to meet with their professional learning community and division chair leadership. Tours of the campus and the community are included. It really is a highlight of our school district and one of the best ways we can support our new teachers."
