Doing business just got a little easier: Hyperion Bank business clients with eligible accounts can now use Zelle® right from Online Banking or the Hyperion Bank Mobile App.

That means another convenient way to receive payments from customers - and to pay eligible suppliers and vendors - without cash or checks. And because Zelle® is built into Hyperion Bank’s digital banking, there’s no additional app to download.

Already a Hyperion Bank business client? Log in and look for Transfer & Pay > Send Money with Zelle®.

Learn more (includes a great FAQ) or sign in to online banking.

To send or receive money with Zelle®, both parties must have an eligible checking or savings account. Transactions between enrolled users typically occur in minutes. (Offer of credit subject to offer.)

Team Hyperion at ELC Dinner Ka’Rin Smith, Ryan Elliot, Brian McNulty, Cara Rossi and Nathan Trott

Team Hyperion turned out Sept. 30 for the Education Law Center’s 51st Anniversary Dinner. Congratulations, ELC! Hyperion’s (pictured, from left) Ka’Rin Smith, Ryan Elliot, Brian McNulty, Cara Rossi and Nathan Trott represented us well. Gretchen Santamour, Past Partner in Philadelphia law firm Stradley Ronon and a member of Hyperion’s Board of Directors, served on the Board of ELC for 10 years and is a past chair. Hyperion sponsored the event as an Education Partner of the Center, a not-for-profit law center that advocates for the rights of public school students. In 2022, the Law Center feted Gretchen for her remarkable service. To support the Education Law Center’s work, visit its website, subscribe to its newsletter & follow ELC on Facebook.

George Perkins 10th Anniversary Surprise

Milestone anniversary for George Perkins

Bank colleagues surprised and celebrated Hyperion’s George Perkins, EVP, Senior Compliance Analyst, for his 10-year service anniversary. George is shown with his service award, a cake and with Hyperion President & COO Lou DeCesare and EVP & Compliance Department Manager Toni Hughes – who came in from Atlanta for the occasion.

George has built his banking career over four decades, working in consumer and commercial lending and compliance for financial institutions both large and local. At Hyperion he performs internal compliance testing, and ensures that all employees are fully trained in bank compliance and conforming customer service protocols.

“I take great pride in helping Hyperion serve our customers with the highest quality banking products and customer service, while also ensuring that our customers are fully informed regarding all aspects of their relationship with the Bank,” George says.

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, George graduated from West Philadelphia High School and from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor in Economics. He later completed advanced professional education at the American Bankers Association Institute of Certified Bankers, where he earned the distinction of Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager.

Our leaders lead the industry

Late last month the Community Bankers Association (CBA) of Georgia elected its Board of Directors for the 2026/2027 year, including Hyperion Bank’s Charlie Crawford, who served on that board the previous few years. Charlie recently completed his term as Immediate Past Chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers. He is shown at the CBA meeting with Jim McAlpin, a corporate and banking lawyer who is Senior Counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, serves on the Board for Bank Director and is a member of Hyperion’s Board of Directors.

We'll be closed Monday, Oct. 12, in observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day. We’ll re-open at 9a Tuesday, bringing #communitybanking to you. Of course, you can bank online 24/7/365.

ICS CDARS

With Hyperion Bank’s access to ICS® and CDARS® programs, you can insure funds above and beyond the standard FDIC protection. Our participation in this network - which is not available to or through all banks - is another way we bring community banking to you. Learn more & ask your fave Hyperion community banker!

Fall Back

Remember that Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 1, so FALL BACK one hour before going to bed Sat, Oct 31, and enjoy more light in the morning. The time change is a good reminder to replace the batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, and to test fire extinguishers. Because we’ve heard discussion of this: You may recall there was an effort to make Daylight Saving Time permanent – that is, eliminate the time change – but the measure did not pass out of Congress.

Inc 5000 plaque

The bling arrived! In August we shared that Hyperion made the prestigious Inc. 5000 list for the third consecutive year. Well, the plaque arrived, proudly shared here by, from left, April Jones and Ka’Rin Smith.

MOCA GA Ribbon Cutting

Ribbon cutting for MOCA-GA

Hyperion’s Amy Ellis and Charlie Crawford recently attended the ribbon cutting for the new home of The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia - MOCA GA, which will soon open to the public at the Goat Farm Arts Center in West Midtown Atlanta. Luminaries cutting the ribbon and making remarks of course included Annette Cone-Skelton, artist, curator & MOCA-GA founder, and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. (Hyperion is providing one of the sources of lending toward MOCA-GA’s new 26,000-square-foot facility.)

As Cone-Skelton noted earlier, “it’s taken a diverse and generous village to bring us to the building of our first permanent home on land we own…and we’re glad that team includes Hyperion, which has been responsive and enthusiastic, with a great understanding of our goals, processes and role in the community.”

We look forward to seeing you at the opening of the new facility soon. In the meantime, learn more about MOCA-GA, its rich history and current and coming exhibits.

Smart habits for cybersecurity awareness

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a good time to remember that cybercriminals are getting better at looking – and sounding – legitimate. Emails, texts, websites and even voices can be convincingly faked. A little skepticism can go a long way toward protecting your money and identity.

One good rule for 2026: If a message creates urgency, fear or excitement and then asks you to click, pay or share information, slow down and verify first.

A few smart habits:

  • Think twice before making purchases or accessing financial accounts on public Wi-Fi.
  • Never send money or provide account information in response to an unexpected email, text or call.
  • Be suspicious of urgent requests – even when they appear to come from someone you know. When in doubt, verify using a phone number or website you already trust.
  • Look closely at links and website addresses. Fake sites can be nearly identical to the real thing.
  • Never provide sensitive information – Social Security number, date of birth, passwords or verification codes – unless you know exactly who is asking and why.
  • Be thoughtful about what you share on social media. Scammers use personal details to make an impersonation attempt more convincing.
  • Use strong, unique passwords – or passkeys where available – and don't reuse passwords across accounts.
  • Turn on multi-factor authentication, especially for email, banking and financial accounts. (Yes, it can be annoying. It’s also effective. And for your protection.)

Two cities. One connection. Rooted in community. Team Hyperion members from Atlanta and Philly gathered at Del Friscos (PHL) late last month for networking, meetings and, well, fellowship. Left side, front to back, Alex Cole, Lauren Hibner, Lou DeCesare, Eric Kellum; right side, front to back, Elisa Varella, Toni Hughes, Bridget Jungblut, Joel Higdon.
