This year, Nordstrom Federal Credit Union turns 90, with roots going all the way back to 1936.
To set the scene, that year...
- A movie ticket cost about $0.25
- The Hoover Dam was completed, becoming one of the largest engineering projects in the world
- Jesse Owens won four gold medals competing in Track & Field events at the Berlin Olympics, making history on a global stage
-
Monopoly was becoming a household favorite board game
It was also the year that employees from Best’s Apparel, a Seattle women’s clothing store, came together with a simple idea: create a Credit Union to support coworkers and families with fair, affordable financial services and personal care.
90 years later, a lot has changed, but that people-first spirit remains at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to continue serving the Nordstrom community today.
