The holidays always seem to sneak up, but a little planning now can save you stress (and money) later. Here are a few simple ways to start early and stay on budget this season:

Make a list and set a limit. Write down everyone you plan to shop for and decide how much you’ll spend per person.
Start tracking deals early. Retailers often release previews of holiday sales in October; use price trackers or wish lists to monitor changes.
Shop small and meaningful. Handmade, local, or experience-based gifts often cost less and mean more.
Spread out your spending. Picking up a few gifts each paycheck keeps costs manageable and avoids big last-minute bills.
Use your Nordstrom FCU debit or credit card for rewards and secure transactions when shopping online.

Last month, we celebrated National Mac and Cheese Day, and we’re still thinking about everyone’s favorite comfort food. Whether you’re at home with family or planning a cozy office potluck, here are a few fun ways to keep the celebration going:

Mac Bar Night: Set out plain macaroni and cheese, then add toppings like bacon bits, roasted veggies, or hot sauce for everyone to customize their bowl.
Bake-Off Challenge: Invite family, friends, or coworkers to bring their best version, whether classic, spicy, or loaded with extras, and vote for the winner.
Mini Mac Cups: Scoop mac and cheese into muffin tins and bake until golden for perfect bite-size portions.
Creative Twists: Try adding lobster, buffalo chicken, or roasted garlic for a gourmet spin.

A Warm Welcome at Gold Creek Nordstrom Rack

We loved visiting the Gold Creek Nordstrom Rack in Alderwood, Washington last week. Store Manager Katie and her team gave us such a warm welcome, and the morning rally clappers brought great energy to start the day.

What stood out most was the pride and loyalty we heard from employees. Many have been part of Nordstrom for years, working across multiple stores or even returning after time away. That strong sense of community is what inspires us every day at the Credit Union.

If your loan qualifies, skipping a payment can help you focus on what matters most—time with family, not your due date.

Skip-a-Pay requests are subject to approval by the Credit Union.
To qualify, loans must be current, in good standing, and have no history of delinquency.
Credit cards are not eligible.
Only one skip is allowed per rolling 12-month period.
A $30 processing fee per skipped payment will be added to your loan balance, and interest will continue to accrue.
