In a previous newsletters, we have covered important topics like tax impact and school finance, what steps have been taken to head off the deficit, and what happens if the referendum fails.
The proposed referendum would
Preserve and maintain what we have today.
-
Keep teachers and staff at the levels they are now, and offer more competitive pay in order to attract and retain the high-quality teachers and staff our students deserve and our community values.
-
Keep student support services and programs (services that address the academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs of all students to maximize student achievement) as they are now.
-
Keep class sizes where they are now.
and
Provide stability for district planning and for residents.
-
The majority of our costs are ongoing (staffing, transportation, utilities). A recurring referendum allows the school district to incorporate long-term fiscal plans in the budgeting process.
-
Projections show stability in the tax rate for our community over the long term.
