A Message from County Executive

Adam J. Bello

Dear Friends,

This month was filled with meaningful work to support residents across our community. Monroe County committed $4.5M in opioid settlement resources to sustain the 24/7 Walk-in Open Access Clinic at Delphi Rise—ensuring continued access to treatment, recovery, and real solutions to confront the substance use crisis. Special thanks to NY Attorney General Letitia James for helping secure this vital funding.

We stood alongside community partners who are doing critical work supporting our residents by supporting victims of crime, advocating for young people, standing with families facing cancer, and honoring our veterans. Monroe County is a better place to live because of these organizations and the resources they make available.

And as festival season begins, we’re looking forward to the 128th Annual Rochester Lilac Festival that begins this weekend. Between the 60+ acts on the main stage, the 315 small businesses that vend, the 20 guided tours of the flowers, and the almost 70 contingents in the parade, we are guaranteed to run into some of our friends and neighbors at Highland Park over the next 10 days! From a long-standing festival to a brand new one, we are thrilled to sponsor a FREE America 250 Celebration on July 12 at ESL Ballpark. More on all this fun below!

In Case You Missed It

Supporting Delphi Rise’s Open Access Clinic: Expanding Lifelines for Substance Use Recovery

Monroe County is investing $4.5 million in opioid settlement funds in Delphi Rise to support its Open Access Clinic over the next five years, while the organization navigates a rapidly shifting funding landscape and works toward long-term sustainability. This investment ensures the county’s only 24/7 walk-in substance use clinic remains open and accessible—day or night—for anyone ready to seek help.

Announcing the 2026 Legislative Youth Awards

The annual Legislative Youth Awards honored 79 local youth who stepped up in a meaningful way to better their community and 13 adults that advocated for them. Congrats to this year’s winners, Adriana Cassano, Salvatore Gerbino and the Seneca Park Zoo Urban Ecology Program Team! Your dedication is an inspiration to the rest of us!

Growing our Community: An Arbor Day Celebration

The Monroe County Parks Department joined City of Rochester DES Commissioner Kabutey Ocansey in Maplewood Park to mark the 43rd Anniversary of the Annual Arbor Day Celebration. This year a Yoshino cherry, a sugar maple, and a red oak tree were planted. The Yoshino cherry is the famous tree variety that blooms in Washington, D.C. each spring during the Cherry Blossom Festival, a fitting tribute to a year celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

Join Monroe County as a Probation Officer

The Monroe County Office of Probation & Community Corrections plays a vital role in strengthening public safety—not only by ensuring accountability, but by guiding individuals with criminal records as they rebuild their lives and become productive, contributing members of our community. If you or someone you know is interested in this career, I encourage you to sign up for the civil service exam before the May 18 deadline. Exam date is June 27.

C.U.R.E Childhood Cancer Celebrates 50 Years with a new Location

I was honored to celebrate the ribbon cutting at the new location for C.U.R.E Childhood Cancer Association. For five decades, this team has supported local families through their most difficult moments. This new space, located at 103 White Spruce Blvd in Henrietta, represents something much deeper than just a new location. It represents a sanctuary, a lifeline, and a physical manifestation of a promise made five decades ago to support families who are coping with the chronic illness of a child.

Acknowledging National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

Putting Children's Safety First

In April, I joined the Child Advocacy Center, the District Attorney’s Office, the Department of Human Services, the Office of Probation & Community Corrections and members of local law enforcement to reaffirm our commitment to work together to keep children safe.
