Now that we are settling into Fall, with the weather getting cooler and students back at school, we announced several initiatives this month to help families with children. The Monroe County Youth Bureau, in conjunction with 211- Life Line and the City of Rochester, has developed an online Youth Services Directory, an excellent resource for programs and opportunities for young people across Monroe County. We also announced a major investment in ROC Your Job, which thanks to our partners at RochesterWorks and our New York State delegation members, provides after school employment opportunities for young people living in areas impacted by violence. We’re investing $4.2 million in ARPA funds to help close the digital divide and expand access to fast, affordable broadband internet in underserved Rochester neighborhoods. This new partnership with Community Broadband Networks (CBN) is a major step toward digital equity.

Drainage Improvements At Durand Eastman Golf Course

A new construction project at Durand Eastman Golf Course will improve course drainage, prevent water buildup, and make it more resilient in the rainy season. We understand these upgrades may disrupt play and are offering discounted greens fees. Call the Pro Shop to book your tee time!

Department Of Public Health Reports 43% Fewer Overdose Deaths In 2024

Monroe County’s overdose prevention and harm-reduction efforts are showing real progress. New data from the Medical Examiner’s Office reveal a 43% decrease in overdose deaths compared to 2023, though even one is too many. See the report for additional findings.

Breaking Ground On 9/11 First Responders' Memorial

The new 9/11 First Responders Memorial in Gary Beikirch Memorial Park will honor the bravery of those who ran toward danger to save lives and serve as a place for our community to reflect on our nation’s strength and resilience. The memorial is expected to be completed for the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Reopening Of Gillett Road Bridge In Ogden

After nearly two years of delays, the Gillett Road Bridge in Ogden is finally repaired and safe. Grateful to Congressman Morelle, Senator Schumer, Legislator Colby, and Supervisor Zale for working with me to make this happen for our community.

Honor Flight Rochester Mission 91

It was an honor to welcome home the 61 veterans from Honor Flight Rochester Mission 91. Their service to our country is deeply appreciated. Also, thanks to all of the incredible volunteers who ensure these veterans receive the recognition they deserve.
