School Bus Safety Program

As a new school year begins, it's important to reflect on a troubling statistic: during the 2024–25 school year, 8,500 tickets were issued to drivers who illegally passed a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended. Each violation represents a potential tragedy. This program holds drivers accountable and helps keep our kids safe.

APEX Accelerator Program Expansion

The high-performing Monroe County-Upstate NY APEX Accelerator – that helps local businesses connect with contracting opportunities for the military and federal government - will now serve the entirety of the NY-SMART I-corridor, enabling seamless support for businesses across Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, strengthening the region’s semiconductor and defense manufacturing ecosystem.

Lactation Friendly Workplace

Monroe County is committed to supporting new mothers by partnering with WIC and implementing family-friendly workplace policies that help them succeed on the job. We’re honored to be recognized by the University of Rochester Medical Center with the Lactation Friendly NY designation.

Ann L. Burr Business Center  

Monroe County recently renamed the business center in CityPlace in honor of outgoing COMIDA Board Chair Ann Burr. Thanks to her leadership, major projects like Constellation Brands HQ and the fairlife dairy plant came to Monroe County — bringing thousands of jobs and boosting our local economy. 

Major Upgrades at Monroe Community Hospital

Monroe Community Hospital will receive $10.175 million from New York State to expand and upgrade its pediatric and ventilator units, plus renovate the adjacent outdoor playground—ensuring MCH continues its nearly 200-year legacy of providing cutting-edge healthcare. 

Airport Tower Tour 

Airport traffic control operators play a crucial role in safe & efficient operation at ROC. Alongside Congressman Joe Morelle, I recently toured the Air Traffic Control Tower at the ROC Airport, learning about monitoring technology & the work that happens each day to keep passengers safe.

Warrior Benefit Concert

Monroe County was proud to sponsor the 14th annual Warrior Benefit Concert, hosted by the American Legion Greece Post 468. It was an honor to spend time with local veterans and personally thank them for their service and sacrifice.

Salute to Seniors

It was a beautiful day to celebrate our seniors at Ontario Beach Park! Thank you to our Office for the Aging team for putting on another wonderful Salute to Seniors event. We also took the opportunity to honor Martha Hope and her legacy of compassionate advocacy alongside her family.

State of the County Update  

I always value the chance to connect with residents about County programs and services.
