An Important Message from Mayor Stephen Dalina
Since this morning, I have been in Rossmoor and throughout the township and visited the emergency shelter. Here is an update on current conditions:
OEM, Township Emergency Personnel and Township Departments continue emergency response from the effects of Tropical Storm Henri. There are severe flooding impacts throughout the Township, particularly in areas of Rossmoor. In some areas, floodwaters are beginning to recede, but many major roadways are still closed and completely flooded.
Conditions are likely to worsen this afternoon and overnight as floodwaters move through the town and waterways begin to crest. ADDITIONAL RAIN IS PREDICTED OVERNIGHT. Please do not drive unless it is absolutely necessary. Surrounding communities are also flooded with impassible roads making travel unsafe throughout the area. Stay at home until conditions improve and monitor local weather channels.
SHELTER:
The Township has opened an emergency shelter at the Monroe Township Senior Center for those who have been flooded, without power, and anyone who needs assistance. Currently, 10 residents from Rossmoor are being cared for at the Senior Center, 12 Halsey Reed Road. Families can reunite with their loved ones there.
Please look out for your neighbors, families and friends as we continue to work through this emergency.
ROAD CLOSURES:
- Rt 33 East and West at Bentley Road (near Applegarth)
- Perrineville (Federal to Route 33)
- Texas Road at the municipal border into Old Bridge
- Englishtown Road from Union Hill Road into Englishtown
- Forsgate Drive at Half Acre into Jamesburg
- Grace Hill Road Bridge by Little Brook Lane
- Old Church Road at Union Valley

POWER DISRUPTIONS:
JCPL reports approximately 1,600 customers are without power. Many crews are working in the municipality to restore power ASAP.
Power restoration in Rossmoor will be delayed in the flooded areas because those homes need to be inspected by code officials and electricians. Monroe Township Construction Officials and JCPL are on the scene and will be in the coming days.
