Juliette Girl Scouts Sneha, Elizabeth, and Amelia, created the Monroe Pantry Box (MPB) for their Girl Scout Silver Award Project which opened in early October. Noticing that many families struggle to access food outside regular pantry hours, they designed this solution to help address the issue. With support from the community and multiple donations, the girls were able to collect all the inventory needed to stock the box. The girls dedicated many hours into the making of the pantry box and aimed to make it sturdy and noticeable. They strategically placed it in a high-traffic area to ensure it would be seen and used by those in need. Throughout the project, they learned valuable lessons about teamwork and patience. The MPB will hopefully become a helpful resource and help assist families to keep food on their tables. The Monroe Pantry box works as a give and take system, built by the community for the community. It is available 24/7 and located along the Heritage Trail by the Farmers Market parking lot. As families utilize the pantry box, the girls hope the community will help keep it stocked by donating directly to the pantry box itself.
