If your fabulous 5th grader would like to help volunteer at the Haunted Swamp (this opportunity only comes once!), please sign them up via the Signup Genius link. Please note that you will need to be at Monster Bash while your child is volunteering (not a drop-off) and we might need an extra hand or two from adults.

Tuesday, November 1 - What to do after the "Boo": SWAG Yard Sign Recycling

Do you know what to do when you are done with your "Boos"? If not, the SWAG Sustainability Community has the answer for you! Beginning on November 1st, the SWAG committee will be launching yard sign recycling just in time to keep CHOA Boos and all other corrugated plastic yard signs out of the landfill. Collection bins will be placed under the awning to the left of the main entrance to MES@Inman starting on November 1st.

***Plastic tops must be separated from the metal base and each should be placed in the appropriate bin.***

Please note: yard signs placed in Atlanta's curbside recycling bins are considered contamination and are sent to a landfill, so please use this new recycling option instead!

Thursday, November 3 - Parent University: All About Testing!

We're excited to host our next Parent University event - All About Testing - on Thursday, 11/3 at 8am in the MES@Inman auditorium.

Join Mr. Baron to learn more about the required testing and assessments that are conducted throughout the school year at MES and across the APS district.

What are MAP, GMAS and GKIDS? Who takes what and when? How are the tests administered and in what ways are the scores used by our teachers, administration, and district? What other measures of learning does MES use in differentiating instruction and teaching each child? How can parents interpret scores and provide support at-home for their students' learning? Learn the answers to these questions and more at this PTA-hosted event!

Questions may be submitted in advance via this FORM

Friday, November 4 - First Fridays Spirit Day: Favorite Sports Team Gear

Show your enthusiasm for your favorite team or college! (Or wear your best MES gear!)

SAVE THE DATES for MES Boosterthon:

Monday, November 7th - MES Boosterthon Fundraising Kicks Off!

Tuesday, November 15th - MES Boosterthon Event

Mark those calendars now!

Throughout the year, the MES PTA works hard to improve and enhance the school experience for our students, teachers, and staff. We love doing this work, but unfortunately, we can’t do it without funding. Starting in 2003, the primary fundraiser for the MES PTA has been our annual Boosterthon. This single event, which will take place this year from November 7th through the 15th, raises the money used to power the majority of PTA initiatives each year. Last fall, our Boosterthon raised over $125,000 from our generous supporters!

More information will be coming next week – be sure to check your child’s folder for the Dolphin Dash flyer and next week’s Digital Dolphin issue for the details. For now, mark your calendars to be on campus on Tuesday, November 15 to cheer on your runners. The full event schedule by grade is available on the MES Boosterthon website.

For those families who are new to MES, check out this Boosterthon Overviewvideo. You don't have to wait for the official kick-off to get a head start supporting this great school. You can register HERE!

If you can, please sign up to be a volunteer – we cannot do this without parents help!

Please share any questions with Fabricio Moraes.

MES News and Reminders

Morning Drop Off

We are asking your assistance with morning car line as we are seeing an increase in cars for morning drop off! We also see that the 7:15-7:30am time is basically empty with almost no cars dropping at that time. This is causing a large backup after 7:30, and in turn, forcing car line to extend past 7:45. Our staff at car line must report to their students at 7:45, so we will no longer be able to open car doors past that time (the beginning bell of school).

We strongly encourage trying to leave home a few minutes earlier to spread out the drop off time, and prevent tardies for students! Thank you!!

SAVE THE DATES - Calling All Science Enthusiasts!

Share your passion for your STEM-related work or hobby by volunteering to be a presenter at Family Science Night or recommend a friend! Contact us HERE.

The purpose of this team is to increase parent and family engagement for all of our MES students. Meetings will be held during the school day.

Please let Paula Chiodi know if you are interested.
