Coming up in October, we have some wonderful community events to look forward to. Our book fair is the week of September 30- October 3. There will be a reading with the Principal night on October 2nd. Our Carnival is October 6 from noon to 4PM. We have the SRVEF Friendship run Saturday October 12 and the SRVEF Fun Run October 13th. As a school, we earn money from the SRVEF in one of two ways. First, if we have a set percentage of our students registered for either of the two runs, we can earn a stipend. Last I checked, if we register another 15 runners, Montair will earn $1,500 dollars. If you want to come out and run, please do. I know I will be there and so will our Roadrunner mascot. You can even register as a virtual runner if you aren’t available on the days of the events. The other way Montair can earn money from the SRVEF is by submitting grants to the foundation. Last year, we had three grants that were selected giving Montair multicultural books, science materials, and occupational therapy resources for our teachers to integrate into their rooms.
This Tuesday, our Montair Site Council will be reviewing the SRVUSD priorities and discussing how Montair is supporting those priorities. Community Members are welcome to come to the SSC meeting. If you are interested, please come to the library at 8:30, Tuesday, September 24th.
Here’s to another great week of learning together.

COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL
OCTOBER 2ND 8:30AM IN THE MPR
Enjoy coffee with our principal, Mrs. Tricaso, at this once yearly gathering, sponsored by Montair’s PTA. Much to be discussed and shared.
- Sandford Harmony’s Social Emotional Curriculum: Learn more about this newly adopted curriculum. Find out about the program’s principles, as well as how it is being integrated into the classrooms. What can we do at home to support this learning and growth?
- California Healthy Kids Survey: What are our students thinking and feeling? Montair's results will be shared and discussed. What are some take-aways from the findings?
- Campus Safety: What measures are in place to make our school’s campus more safe?
After drop-off on October 2rd, meet in the MPR for a cup of coffee, and a morning treat, as we share ideas, ask questions and converse with Principal Tricaso. All are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.

MONTAIR BOOK FAIR
The Montair Fall Book Fair will kick off on Monday, September 30th and run through Sunday, October 6th. We are looking for some lovely parent volunteers to help us with checkouts, assisting the kids with their shopping, bagging books etc.
The book fair is open during recess, lunch and 30 minutes after dismissal. Mrs. Tricaso will be reading at our
family event Wednesday evening 5:30pm - 7:00pm
.
The fair will also be open during the Montair Fall Carnival on Sunday, October 6th from noon - 4pm.
It is a super fun event and the kids absolutely love it. As always, your help is very much appreciated. We truly can't do it without you.
This will be our
only book fair
of the school year.
Purchasing books at the fair is a great way to support our school library! Mrs. Suffoletta is able to purchase new library books with the funds raised from book fair sales.

Montair PTA invites 1st-5th grade students to help make care packages for the homeless after school on Wednesday, October 16th!
Pledge to Humanity empowers our youngest generations to volunteer in efforts that improve the quality of life for children, families, and seniors in need through local and global initiatives.
Students will have a meaningful introduction to the Pledge to Humanity mission, and connect that mission to the needs of homeless people in our broader community by making care packages of non-perishable food and other items of comfort.
Space is limited, so please sign up:
