I am excited that we are just over a week away from the Festival Around the World. On January 23rd, our MPR will be transformed into an international bazaar with food, crafts, and entertainment from around the world. Our PTA Inclusion and Diversity Chairs, Cheryl Aza and Carmela Salomon are organizing this event. Please see their article in the Montair Minute to help out with loaning a table or bringing a dish to share. This evening is such a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity in our community. Be sure to come by and enjoy some staff members perform our Dandiya routine. See you there!
I am also thrilled that our Montair Havana Nights Auction Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, January 15th. For those of you who have attended an annual Auction event, you know how much fun these auction events are. For those of you who are new to MT or who have been unable to attend in the past, I cannot emphasize enough about what a great night out this auction will be. In addition to being a wonderful evening socializing with our community, the Montair Auction Gala is a huge part of our fundraising program here at Montair. The proceeds from this event fund drama, music, gardening, classroom paras, reading and math intervention, technology, and more. Thanks to the generosity of last year’s parents, we were able to purchase boxes of new, culturally responsive books for EVERY CLASSROOM. We have also purchased sensory resources for every classroom such as hokey stooks, light filters, and noise cancelling headphones. The Auction Gala will be held February 29th. Plan on attending. Have a blast. Make a difference!
