Dear Montair Families,
I want to thank our amazing families for taking the time to come by the office or write me letters sharing how much they appreciate the hard work their child’s teacher is doing. Your appreciation means the world to our teachers and staff!
As you meet with your child’s teacher during conferences this week, please remember to keep the focus on your child’s academic and social-emotional goals. Our teachers are looking forward to partnering with you and sharing learning strengths and areas to grow for your student(s).
While it may be tempting to ask staff about hybrid schedules and the logistics of returning we do not have answers to these questions yet. Our staff will support and guide our community in the reopening of Montair. We appreciate your trust and support!
At this time, my greatest priority is to welcome back our students to a warm, welcoming and safe learning environment. Their beautiful souls fuel our passion. I can’t wait to see your children back in our classrooms.
We are committed to supporting our students’ diverse learning needs. One way teachers do this is by offering individualized and small group support during student support times. When your child’s teacher invites him/her to join them or one of our paraeducators during student support time, it’s a wonderful opportunity for your child to receive additional support or enrichment. Thank you for making sure your child attends student support time when he/she is invited.
I look forward to seeing you at our “Chat with the Principal” this Wednesday, October 7th at 6:00. HERE is a Google Form you can use to record questions for me to address during our meeting. I look forward to seeing you there. I am happy to share that we will be hosting our GATE Parent Night on Thursday, October 22nd at 6:00. During our meeting, I will share a video message from our Director of Elementary Education, Nadine Rosenzweig, provide an overview of the GATE program in the SRVUSD, and Mrs. Derksen will share how teachers across our campus address the needs of our GATE students. We look forward to seeing you at that meeting.
Warm Regards,
Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
