Welcome back from the Thanksgiving Holiday! I hope everyone had opportunities to spend more time with family and friends. The weather held out and allowed so much outdoor time. I know my dogs were grateful!
Looking at the calendar ahead, we have several field trips planned. We would like to thank the parents that have updated their information on the
Volunteer Management System
to allow for their serving as chaperones/drivers. This is an important job because chaperone/drivers play a key role in the safety of our kids when they are off campus. If you are attending a field trip as a driver/chaperone, I would like to make our expectations clear.
- All insurance/licensing must be up to date in the VMS system well in advance of the trip.
- Chaperones will be assigned a group of kids. The chaperone should stay with these students throughout the field trip, taking a head count periodically to ensure all are accounted for.
- Chaperones cannot bring other younger children on the trip as the adults are responsible for the safety of the students in their charge.
- Chaperones should not be on their phones or distracted during the field trip. Chaperones should be actively engaged in the field trip, listening to docents, and encouraging student participation through modeling active engagement.
- Chaperones/drivers should not make any unexpected or unplanned stops enroute to the field trip or back to school.
We are so fortunate to be able to take our kids on so many enriching field trips as part of their Montair experience. We could not do so without your donations and your willingness to spend the day helping with supervision. We are very grateful for those who are able to help and we all appreciate knowing that our chaperones are focused on the kids.
Here’s to another great week of learning together!
