Message From The Principal

Dear Montair Families,

It was so beautiful to see so many parents on campus helping out with Valentine’s Day celebrations. I know both students and staff felt the love on February 14th. The love continues as we feel your support during our Boosterthon Love Run fundraiser. Thank you for gathering sponsors to contribute to our fundraising efforts. Our staff feels so incredibly blessed to have your generous contributions. Our Love Run takes place this Friday, February 25th on the field. We invite you to come on campus and cheer your children as they run. The schedule for the Love Run is below. We hope to see you there!

  • 8:10-8:55: 3rd
  • 9:00-9:45: TK & AM kindergarten
  • 10:15-11:00: 1st grade & Mrs. Fischer’s class
  • 11:05-11:50: 5th grade
  • 12:45-1:30: 2nd grade
  • 1:35-2:20: 4th & PM Kindergarten

We have a couple of new volunteer opportunities for Montair families. Two of our lunch supervisors have resigned to take other positions. Thus, we appreciate any volunteers who are willing to help with lunch supervision at the lunch tables during our lunch time which is 11:30-12:45. If you are able to help out, please sign up on THIS Sign Up Genius. In addition, our school nurse, Alyson Campbell, will be organizing the second (and final) Hearing & Vision state mandated screenings on Wednesday, March 2nd at Montair. There will be an optometrist on campus to screen vision and our school nurse will conduct hearing screenings. If you are interested in helping out for our screenings, please sign up on this SignUp Genius.

I recognize that there are a variety of opinions on the topic of masking in schools. Many community members have shared with me that they are eagerly awaiting the day when mask mandates are lifted from schools as well. Until that day happens, we will continue to abide by the K-12 indoor mask mandates from the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Contra Costa County Public Health. If you were not already aware, the CDPH has announced they are now reassessing the state's policies on COVID-19, K-12 guidance and SRVUSD is expecting an announcement regarding continued face coverings in public schools to be made on February 28th. We will inform you of any changes as soon as we are notified. Thank you for your continued support as we transition to the next phase of schooling during this time.

We hope you and your family had a wonderful long weekend! Our Montair Dad’s Club will be welcoming students back on campus with donuts on 2/23. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Liz Lyons
