Dear Montair Families,

Today is Read Across America Day.  Mrs. Wui and I will be reading to classes to celebrate the power of literature.  We hope you enjoy the pleasure of reading to your children tonight.  I have always loved bedtime stories.  They are a wonderful way to connect with your child as they ease into sleep.

We are looking to have your children’s beautiful smiles adorn our office bulletin board with our March art project. The theme is “Lucky to be a Roadrunner” If you are a hybrid family, I’ll deliver shamrocks  to your children’s classes.  If you’re a remote family, you can print out THIS shamrock template.  Here are the directions: a) place a photo of your child in the middle of the shamrock,  b) write their name under the photo, and c) list three things they like about Montair, d) color the shamrock, e) cut out the Shamrock.  Return them to school--either in their material drop off on March 8th or when your children return to school on  March 9th.  I’ll hang them up in our office and will Tweet a photo of everyone’s work.

As we adjust to pick up and drop off times, please remember these procedures: 1) your child should exit from the passenger side of the car, 2) pick up your child from the curb side of the loop-please do not have your child cut through cars to get to your car, 3) do not park in staff parking spots.

We also want to remind you of a few COVID procedures. If you have a sick child at home, please remember that all children in your family should remain home until you have clearance from your doctor.  If one of your children is unwell at school, we have to send home all siblings as well.  Please take a moment to review the COVID decision tree.  Please remember too, that students should not be bringing food onto campus unless they are on campus all day, or there are specific health conditions that require they eat during the 3 hours they are on campus.

We have an open position on our School Site Council.  If you are interested in serving as a member for the remainder of this school year, please send an email to me and we will let you know next steps. March conferences for some students will be held between March 10-12.  Teachers will reach out to the families they would like to meet with in the week to come.  We hope you have a wonderful week.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
