We did it! We finished week one of remote learning and have launched into week 2. I know we have faced challenges but the successes far outshine the bumps in the road. I sat in on a couple of online Google Meetings. It was WONDERFUL hearing the kids’ voices and listening to them share what’s working and asking questions. I have visited many Teacher’s Google Classrooms, Websites, and seen the emails and communications sent out. I am so proud of this staff and their ability to turn around years of expertise as teachers into a remote learning platform. This is a work in progress as we are learning more every day.
I just want to thank all of you for staying positive. Remember that the kids are learning by observing how we react to frustration and new learning. Laugh at the hiccups. Take a break when you're stuck. Reach out to ask for help and wait. It will come. Please do not compare one teacher’s online learning site to another.
In this time of learning to teach in a remote fashion, it is neither productive nor kind. Just like in a physical classroom, there are differences in teaching style and how teaching is delivered. That is to be expected. Know that teachers are making the best professional decisions they can to accomplish what is being asked of them. Kindness and patience are two character traits that are most needed right now.
Our kids are learning so much from this experience. They are becoming problem solvers. They are becoming more independent. And they are learning to be creative. We are all learning so much!
I will keep you updated with changes as I can.
Stay safe and remember to laugh.
We’ve got this,
