Dear Montair Families,

The Montair community is a beautiful mosaic composed of families from around the globe. One way we celebrate the majesty of our diversity is through our Festivals Around the World celebration. This year’s celebration will take place via Flipgrid. Please take a moment to share a special celebration, food, music, custom with our community through our Festivals Around the World FlipGrid HERE. Click enter guest password. The password is Montair123. Learning about our families’ cultures builds bridges and broadens our understanding and appreciation for the different cultures around our community. We have our first entry and look forward to many more!

Thank you parents for following the drop off guidelines I shared last week. We were able to get the last of the drop off traffic finished by 8:05 most days last week. That is a 5-10 minute improvement from the week before! We are also improving how long it takes for pick up traffic to go through the loop. To further assist our efficiency, please print out and post THIS SIGN of your child(ren)’s name to the passenger side window. We will also be passing them out this week during pick up.

In a few weeks our staff will begin the process of making class lists for the 2021-2022. Our goal is to build classes that ensure the best learning environment possible for all students. To achieve this goal, class placements are made by considering both group and individual needs. Although we do not take requests for teachers, we do recognize parents and caregivers have important information that will help our staff when creating classes. Families can share this information by filling out this Parent Input Form* by April 30th.

We have a couple of activities coming up for our remote students. On Thursday, 4/29 @ 5:30 we will have read aloud time with Ms. Lyons. Use this link to join: https://srvusd-net.zoom.us/j/85039228644 Meeting ID: 850 3922 8644
On Monday, 5/3 & 5/17 from 4:00-5:00 we will have a remote student playdate on the little kids playground. If your child wants to come and play, please sign up HERE. Remember to have your child wear a mask and maintain social distance. We ask you to stay with your child and possibly meet other parents. We hope to see you and your children there!

The SRVUSD educational services department has laid out cursory plans for the 2021 Summer School. This year all summer school classes will be focused on reteaching and remediation. Summer School will be held in person at Golden View, Rancho Romero, or Live Oak from 6/14-7/9 with no school on 7/5. We haven’t been told summer school hours yet. Teachers will be recommending students who will benefit from additional support in reading and math. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
