Message From The Principal

Dear Montair Families,
We hope you and your family settled well into our regular bell schedule last week. It’s been a long time since we attended school for five full days. It was not surprising that many of us were yawning by lunchtime, Friday : ) This time of year brings allergies and an increased incidence of colds. Colds, allergies, and COVID have very similar symptoms. We must remind you that we have strict protocols we must follow if a child exhibits any COVID symptoms. To see our protocol, please click HERE. Please remember we are trying our best to keep our students and staff healthy. We appreciate your understanding and consideration when we follow the protocol.
We have a few opportunities for families to get together in the next few weeks. Our Common Grounds Coffee is on Wednesday, September 8th from 8:30-9:30. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families who have children with exceptional needs to meet one another and share insights on school. You can join us for Common Grounds Coffee using this link: https://srvusd-net.zoom.us/j/87520490996
Meeting ID: 875 2049 0996. At dusk, on Friday, 9/10 on the blacktop, the PTA is sponsoring family movie night under the stars. This year’s movie is Toy Story 4. We hope to see you there!
Families are invited to sign up their 5th-grade children for the Science Alliance. This program provides students with a high school science mentor who helps guide students through fun, scientific explorations. If you’re interested in getting more information, click HERE.
County Connection will be offering free rides during the month of September. The promotions will be available on all routes (including paratransit service), all month, for all passengers from September 1st through September 30th. Please review this Promotional Flyer for more information.
Community members have shared their concern about student pick up on Linda Mesa Dr. which is located behind our primary students’ playground. Neighbors have reported that drivers are double parking, making illegal U-turns, and encouraging students to cross the street without using crosswalks. To help monitor this, our local police will be providing us with traffic support. Please follow all safety and traffic rules when picking up your child. We would all be devastated if we had an accident. We will continue to monitor safety at that location. We want to keep the back gate open for pick up and not limit it to walkers and bike riders only. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Warm Regards,
Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
