Message From The Principal
Dear Montair Families,

We have two special events this week at Montair. Our first event is on Tuesday, 9/14 which is a minimum day. Please refer to our minimum day schedule as follows: TK/AM Kinder: 8:00-10:30; PM Kinder: 9:30-12:00, 1st-5th: 8:00-12:00. On Wednesday 9/15, we have school pictures. Please go to THIS LINK to order pictures. We look forward to seeing everyone in their school picture finery on Wednesday.

We had a fun-filled evening during Family Movie Night. It was wonderful to see so many families together enjoying one another under the stars. I want to thank our PTA and especially our Family Movie Night chairs, Kylie Barbata and Kim Seabury for organizing our special evening. I’d also like to thank The House of Fete for donating the balloons and decor to add to our festivities. Our next family event will be the fall carnival which is on October 17th. We are looking for volunteers to help us make it as fun and safe as possible. If you are interested in helping out, please reach out to Alex Sullivan, our PTA president.

Last month, the state of California required that all classroom volunteers show proof of COVID vaccination. SRVUSD is putting together the protocol to institute this requirement. As soon as that protocol is approved, we will be able to have volunteers in our classrooms. If you are interested in volunteering, please be sure to have proof of vaccination and register on THIS LINK for Be a Mentor. Please keep in mind that volunteers are subject to contact tracing and quarantine protocols we institute during any positive COVID case.

School meals will continue to be provided for all interested students for the remainder of this school year. If you have a child nutrition account balance from spring 2020, you can request a refund by contacting SRVUSD's Child Nutrition Department Secretary Belinda McDaniel by calling (925) 824-1808 or email Belinda and provide:

Student(s) name(s)
Students ID(s)
School site(s)
Person's name to make the check payable to, and
Mailing address where to send the refund check

As we work together to support our children in rebuilding their scholarly stamina and academic skills, there are a few things you can do at home to support our efforts. Please continue to practice sight words, math facts, and practice reading every day. Daily practice solidifies neural pathways that build automaticity and set the foundation for the complex tasks students engage with as the year progresses.

Have a beautiful week!

Warmly,

Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
