Dear Montair Families,
We are almost ready to welcome volunteers onto campus. Be a Mentor has updated the form for new volunteers requiring them to enter vaccination status and upload proof of vaccination to the BAM system. On Friday 9/17/21, BAM sent a mass email to all volunteers already cleared in the system asking them to enter vaccination status and upload proof. Please be sure to do this so we can begin inviting parents to volunteer in classrooms soon.
Students are permitted to bring cell phones or smartwatches to school only to be used before or after school. They should not be used during the day and should not cause any disruption to class. This rule applies to watch-like devices that serve as a phone. Such devices may be worn in class, but should be in the off or silent setting during instructional hours. Some teachers have a “parking lot” for watches in a locked cabinet during the day for when a device causes disruption.
I love starting and ending my day at crosswalk duty. It’s nice to see parents and our students each day. I hope grouping pedestrian traffic across the crosswalk helps ease traffic in our neighborhood. A few neighbors have reported that their driveways have been blocked by cars during pick up or drop off. Please be courteous of our neighbors and be sure to clear driveways when parking and walking to campus. It’s also very helpful to have your child’s name and grade visible on the passenger window. Thank you for helping us out with this.
Our district is currently looking to fill numerous positions. Very importantly, they are looking to employ substitute teachers. If you or anyone you know is interested in subbing, please encourage them to review this information on how to become a guest teacher. Mrs. Espinoza and I have been subbing several times a week to help out when teachers are out. In addition, we are looking to hire TWO, 6 hour a week lunch supervisors. The hours are M-F from 11:30-12:45. We are so grateful for our parent volunteers, who are helping fill in for now. We would love to hire permanent supervisors. If you or anyone you know is interested, click HERE. Thank you for your consideration.
I’m beginning to feel crisp autumn air as I greet children and families in the morning. This is my favorite time of the year. We have a lot of fun on the horizon this fall! We can’t wait to experience it with you : )
Warmly,
Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
