PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Montair Families,

We are excited to share our character trait focus for the month of October is kindness. Teachers will integrate activities and lessons centered on fostering kindness and eliminating bullying. Mrs. Wui and I will be visiting classrooms and promoting kindness too! We can’t wait to hear about our students’ kindness throughout the month.

I had the pleasure of facilitating discussions in our 4th and 5th grade classes last week. Our conversations focused on coping with digital distractions. Students shared that notifications for emails, Google chats, YouTube and texts are the biggest sources of distraction. Students brainstormed ways they can limit distractions. If you have not already done so, it will be helpful to turn off notifications on your child’s device.

There are several activities students can participate in this month. We invited students to participate in the “Street Smarts” traffic safety program, click HERE for more details. We are also participating in the Great Shake Out. This is a great time to discuss your family’s earthquake plan. If you don’t already have a plan, this link is full of wonderful resources.

We have "Chat with the Principal" on Wednesday, October 7th at 6:00. If you have questions you would like me to address during our time together, you can share them with me on THIS Google Form. I look forward to connecting with you and sharing current information about our remote learning program and our return to school planning.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Lyons, Ed.D.
Principal
