PLAYHOUSE FOUNDATION PROJECT UPDATE
In case you missed the great news announced last month, we wanted to give you an overview of what we've been up to: our long-awaited community vision to complete the Montauk Playhouse with an Aquatic Center is becoming a reality!
Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors who've supported this project, we are planning a ceremonial ground-breaking event at the Playhouse this July! We've been working closely with the East Hampton Town Board on this public-private partnership. Click here to watch our recent project update presentation to the Town Board (begins at 28:30). As construction begins on the phase one first-floor Aquatic Center, our fundraising efforts to complete the second-floor multi-purpose cultural center will continue. As we go forward, we'll continue to share with you all of the latest project news, so make sure to stay tuned!
OCEAN SWIM CHALLENGE RETURNS TO MONTAUK
The Montauk Ocean Swim Challenge will return on July 23rd at Ditch Plains Beach. Presented by the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation in collaboration with East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and the Montauk Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation’s future Aquatic and Community Arts Centers. PERMITS AT THE PLAYHOUSE TOWN CLERK ANNEX
East Hampton's Town Clerk Annex located in the Playhouse lobby processes permits for beach parking, beach driving, shellfish, recycling, disability parking, and more. Hours are: Monday through Friday, from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. For more information, call (631) 668-5081.
MAY IS BICYCLE SAFETY MONTH
The Town of East Hampton reminds residents and visitors that May is Bicycle Safety Month! Make sure your bike has basic safety equipment, wear your helmet, and know and follow the rules of the road. For safety tips and a bicycle safety quiz for parents and kids, click here.
FARMER'S MARKET RETURNS TO THE GREEN
The weekly Farmer's Market on the Village Green is back! Every Thursday from 9am - 2pm, starting May 11th, look for artisanal treats and fresh produce as well as some new vendors added into the mix this year! For more info, click here.
CCOM CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: MAY 20TH FLOATING WETLANDS INSTALLATION
CCOM is seeking volunteers for Saturday, May 20th, from 9am - 1pm, to pitch in and help with the installation of their floating wetlands project in Fort Pond, an innovative water quality remediation initiative. For more info, click here.
CONCERT TO BENEFIT THE MONTAUK LIGHTHOUSE
Montauk musician Rufus Wainwright will celebrate his 50th birthday with a benefit concert on the lawn of the Montauk Lighthouse on Thursday, July 13th. Titled "Fifty Isn't the End," featured concert guests will include Jimmy Fallon, Tig Notaro, Laurie Anderson, Loudon Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Lucy Wainwright Roche—and more.
