Monterey Bay Aquarium Volunteer E-Newsletter March 2020

Hello wonderful volunteers, Thank you for reading another issue of our Tidal Zone Newsletter. A lot has happened over the last two months. We have had volunteers get their 100 hour pins, their first bling! We have also had individuals hit milestones such as being awarded their 10,000 hour pin! Another big event was our Spring Recruitment. We hosted two information session which attracted over 110 individuals. Before the Aquarium's temporary closure, we were able to accept 60 new volunteers into the guide program! As the volunteer program continues to do amazing things, so does the rest of the Aquarium! Our staff has been busy taking care of our animals, communicating with the world via social media, and working hard to keep operations as normal as possible. Doubling Your Impact!

The Monterey Bay Aquarium would not be possible without the service you all give. The time you spend assisting husbandry, diving, educating children, and more makes all the difference but did you know you can double your impact? The Aquarium's Institutional Giving Program is one way our Development team acquires funds. There are many companies that will match your volunteer hours with a monetary donation. The Volunteer Engagement team is working with volunteer, Rod Skinner, and the development team to get the word out about this amazing program. Down the line we will be reaching out to each of you see if there is an opportunity for you to take advantage of this program. The Monterey Bay Aquarium partnered with the University of British Columbia, and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) to produce a map of biodiversity for both marine and terrestrial animals. Read the article here

The Otter Surrogacy Program Expands

The Aquarium's successful Sea Otter Surrogacy has officially expanded! It was announced last month that the Aquarium of the Pacific is partnering with us to start their very own program.
