Greetings! When you open up the MC Weekly today, you may notice an ad (page 17) or a description of the Monterey Public Library (page 24) where we state we were voted "Best Library in Monterey County for the past 16 years!". Hey, I think we have the best library for the past 175 years...but I'm biased.

Anyways, if you see the cat in the drawing - that's Mordecai, (or Mordy), our beloved library cat. He lives at home with his human pets (library staff), but was once a foster kitty with our library team. You may have even seen him at one of our outreach events. I drew Mordy on the stack of books as a potential new library card design... Stay tuned!

I mention this as I think it's great to have a culture where we celebrate success - and failures, where we value what makes us unique, and we have fun through the process. Libraries continue to evolve and adapt to meet the community, but sometimes you just have to bring it back to earth and have fun with a library cat. For the past 16+ years the community has given their love to the Monterey Public Library, staff, Friends & Foundation, Board, and volunteers. I appreciate people that voted for us again, and look forward to the Monterey Public Library being your favorite library for years to come.

Warmly~

Brian
