What are all those cones around the Library and down Pacific?
The Citywide Sidewalk Repair Phase 7, funded by Measure S, will be repairing sidewalks along Pacific Street.. Parking may be limited over the next several days as the sidewalks and driveways leading to the library get repaired or replaced. Additionally, new rubber tree well surrounds will be added to help support healthy tree growth, and a new ADA ramp at the corner of Pacific & Madison will be installed. I'm excited to see these changes and they should be completed very soon! We are sorry for the noise, dust, and parking impacts. However, in the long run these changes will lead to better accessibility for all.
The terrace planters have been weeded and we are looking at best ways to modify the glass partitions so that we can continue to access and maintain a garden in that space. In the front of the building, along Pacific and Madison, we are adding new plants in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
Starting later this year, we will be implementing some of our changes to the children's area funded by generous donations from MCGives and a California State Library, Early Learning Hub grant. We are looking at new shelving, new furniture, and interactive spaces for the children's area. These exciting changes will lead to a welcoming space for our youngest library members.
Warmly~
Brian
